Teacher Easter Cards

Hello!
I hope you had a great day today!  I was in Jacob's class this afternoon helping with their Easter Egg Hunt!  Those kids are hilarious!  It was fun to watch them hunt down the eggs...and even more fun for Student Teacher and I to try and round up all of the eggs that weren't found.  We ended up short one but I'm fairly confident that some sneaky little someone ate it.  I also think that sneaky little someone may share my DNA!

I had purchased these adorable chocolate sheep, bunnies and chicks (all in one pack) on the March break for a few of the teachers at the school.  I thought they were so cute!  I must say I'm fairly proud of my will power to not consume them before I gave them away!  I needed 6 Easter cards to accompany said chocolates and I wanted the cards to be fairly quick.  As much as I do love the teachers I didn't have a whole pile of time to be making Easter cards!  Caleb is in French Immersion so he spends half of his day in French and that meant I needed one French Easter card as well!  Gotta love Teeny Tiny Wishes (in both English and French!).

I must say I do love the Easter Blossoms stamp set.  I'm not a bunny/egg kind of Easter card girl.  I try to focus on the true meaning of Easter so that's probably why I like this stamp set.  This little girl is just so sweet!    I saw that the SUO Challenge site is hosting a Spring Cards challenge.  Easter is springy right?  I thought I would enter this very clean and simple card in their challenge.  Yes, you may say that there are only 5 cards in the picture.  The 6th card got sealed in its envelope before I remembered that I needed to take a picture!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake
Stamps: Easter Blossoms, Teeny Tiny Wishes (English and French)
Ink: Versamark
Other: Rosettes, Rose Red Seam Binding, White Embossing Powder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Retro Birthday Wishes

Hello!
I hope everyone made it through Wednesday!  I just got in from bootcamp and man I'm feeling it good tonight!  Our instructor, Tania, tried to kill us tonight!  I am exhausted but not looking forward to the walk from the basement to the second floor to bed!!!

I had a few minutes the other day while Jacob was napping and Caleb was at school so I quickly whipped up a card for the Retro Sketches challenge this week!  I love this challenge but don't get to play as often as I'd like!  Lori has a great sketch this week!

I opted for a slightly distressed look this week.  You can't see it as much in the photo...honestly it's there!  I love my sanding tool from Stampin' Up!  It's right up there with my distressing tool!!!   I'm still not sure I'm sold on the Summer Starfruit but it does look great with the Midnight Muse!  The sentiment from Blooming with Kindness fit perfectly in one of the Apothecary Accents dies!  I was very excited!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla
DSP: Tea for Two
Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Papillon Potpourri
Ink: Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit
Other: Bitty Butterfly Punch, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Linen Thread, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, In Colour Dahlias, Sanding Tool, Basic Pearls

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!  I'll be back tomorrow with the Easter cards I made for the boys teachers!

Freshly Made Sketches #79

Hello!
I hope you're having a good week!  I know some of you from the North Eastern US are still getting some snow!  I do hope that spring finds you soon!  We are slowly getting warmer temperatures here.  I have seen several robins now and the bunnies are...well...frisky!  I have been walking a lot lately and see quite a few adorable bunnies on my travels!  I enjoyed some bright, warm sunshine this afternoon!  It was refreshing to get a good dose of Vitamin D!

I love that we have another fabulous new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today!  Rita Wright (who is oh so creative) has a versatile sketch for us today!  I was so thankful to see that I didn't have to use a dreaded circle!
I decided to use the Back Pocket Basics from Papertrey Ink for this card.  I have had this set for a while and haven't used it yet!  I figured there was no time like the present!  I thought I would use the Sunshine since we were in desperate need of some!

I know I should have decorated the inside a bit more but I was running out of time!!!  I still may get around to that!!!  I decided that denim ribbon would be a good accent for the card (since I was trying to mimic a denim pocket!).  Not sure it looks that great now...sigh...

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit
DSP: Print Poetry DSP Stack
Stamps: Back Pocket Basics (PTI)
Ink: Versamark, Basic Black, Summer Starfruit
Other: Large Scallop Edgelit,  Back Pocket Basics Coordinating Dies, Denim Ribbon, Dimensionals, White Embossing Powder

Thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you'll pop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out all the fabulous cards!  Make sure you stop at Rita's blog though and check out the fabulous projects she has been working on (see her post here!). She sure is creative!

Have a great day!

Lunch Box Cards

Hello!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We had a busy but fun weekend!  The boys drove their RC Monster Trucks a lot!  Today they went to a track and got MUDDY!  Actually, muddy doesn't describe it....they were filthy!  It was terrible!  My husband washed them up after dinner and all is well!!!

Today's little cards are lunch box cards!  When we were at my mom's Caleb found the Spring Sampler stamp set on my mom's work table and decided that I needed to make him some little notecards for his lunch box!  He's hilarious!  They are the perfect stamps for these little cards though!

The cards are 2 1/4" square!  The images fit perfectly inside the 1" circle punch which coordinates so well with the 1 1/2" scalloped circle punch!

Caleb will be receiving the little ladybug tomorrow!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red, Perfect Plum, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green
Stamps: Spring Sampler, Fabulous Phrases
Ink: Basic Black, Real Red, Perfect Plum, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green
Other: 1" circle punch, 1 1/4" scalloped circle punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a great week!!!

Freshly Made Sketches #78

Hello!
Hope you're enjoying you're week so far! I know if you live anywhere in Ontario or along the Eastern Seaboard you are NOT experiencing spring...more like winter rearing it's ugly head!  I know some skiers out there are totally pumped about an extra long season...I however am totally ready for spring!  Bring on the tulips!

Today does thankfully mean a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  The very creative Jen Mitchell brings us this week's sketch...notice she has a circle on it!!!  I struggled with this card.  My original card (which lays in pieces on my desk) was going to be a beautiful black and raspberry ripple...sigh...it did not turn out as I had envisioned.
I decided to use the Tea for Two DSP...I do love this paper!  It makes me smile!  I couldn't figure out what to use for my circle and opted for a scrunchy flower!  I love scrunched up flowers!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
DSP: Tea for Two
Stamps: Kindness Matters
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Scalloped Circle Punches, Brads (retired), Finishing Touches Edgelits, Calypso Coral Ribbon (retired)

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the Freshly Sketches blog to check out the other very talented designers creations!

Have a great day!

Reverse Punched Butterfly

Hello!
I hope you're ready to start the week!  We had a great weekend and spent today getting ready for the week ahead!  The boys were awfully tired by the time bedtime rolled around.  They spent a LOT of time outside this afternoon driving their monster trucks!  The golf course beside us isn't open yet so they were taking advantage of the sand pit on Hole #10!

Today's card isn't for a challenge.  I had seen some great reverse punch cards and wanted to give one a try!  Unfortunately I didn't realize how dumb I am sometimes and I should have put the punched out piece on dimensionals.  That being said the reason I didn't was because I really wanted the seam binding at the top!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
DSP: Tea for Two
Stamps: Honestly...I don't know!  I used my mom's and I don't remember what it was!!!
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Elegant Butterfly Punch, Word Window Punch, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

A few pics from our March break.  My mom graciously lets the boys use the floor of her living room to set up trains!  The trains are only there when the boys are there and come down as soon as we leave!  Jacob can usually be found "bum up" watching the trains go around and around!  He is impartial to red tankers!  Caleb loved the snow banks in my parents backyard.  He loved jumping off of them and doing fancy dives!  So funny!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a great week!

Sailing Away....

Hello!
A quick post tonight!  We had the big drive back from my mom and dad's today!  As nice as it is to get home, the boys were sad leaving Papa and Grannie!  It will be a while before we see them again and that's always hard.  It was so relaxing at my mom and dad's and I'm not looking forward to the return of school/work week chaos!

I decided to play along with the Create with Connie and Mary challenge this week.  I have zero masculine cards on hand and decided that I should probably change that situation!  I pulled out my mom's "The Open Sea" stamp set since it's my go-to for masculine cards!

My mom had some Nautical Expedition (is that really it's name?!) paper left!  I was thankful!  I have a bit left too...it's prized stuff around here!  It's just the perfect manly paper!!!    I sponged the edges of the card since I wanted it to look a little more rustic.  Threw on a bronze button and I was good to go!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
DSP: Nautical Expedition
Stamps: The Open Sea, Party This Way (sentiment)
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Other: Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Button, Dimensionals, Sponge Daubers

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card!!!

Have a great day!

Retro Sketches Elephant

Hello!
I can't believe our March Break is almost over.  That makes me sad.  The week has gone by do fast!  It has been a great week and we've enjoyed every minute with my mom and dad!  The boys are looking forward to seeing their Dad though!

I needed to make a card for my girlfriend who had a baby last month!  I was waiting until I saw her and met this beautiful baby to give her the card!  I used this week's Retro Sketches sketch to create the card.

I had wanted to give hexagon cutting a try.  Let's just say that it takes a bit of practise (or took me a bit of practise!) but after a while it's pretty simple!  Just make sure you're using great scissors!  I wanted to go with Baja Breeze since I thought it would look best with the Crumb Cake cardstock.  I embossed the elephant from Patterned Occasions and then cut him out (cutting off the sentiment and flowers).

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler
DSP: Baja Breeze
Stamps: Patterned Occasions, Tiny Tags
Ink: Versamark, Baja Breeze
Other: Tiny Tag Punch, White Embossing Powder, Hexagon Embossing Folder, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Two-Step Owl Punch (Heart), Linen Thread, Dimensionals

I've attached a few pictures of my newest little friend Andrew!  Isn't he sweet?!  I was able to snuggle him on Tuesday and then again today!!!  So sweet!  I can't believe how small newborns are!  Seems like so long ago my boys were ever this tiny (and even smaller!).

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #77

Hello!
I hope you are having a great week so far!  We are in the middle of our March Break (how can it be the middle already?!).  The two boys and I have taken a little trip to visit my parents for the week!  My husband is at home working...I wonder if he's enjoying the quiet?!  We are having a blast here!  My boys couldn't be happier!

Wednesday brings us a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  The fabulous Jennifer Timko brings us this week's sketch!  This card is my second take on the sketch.  The first one did not fair out so well...ugh.  Sometimes I wonder about myself!!!

I finally decided on making a very blue and white card! I love blue!  I was going to use midnight muse but then changed my mind and went with Night of Navy!  I also love, love, love the Secret Garden stamp set and dies!  Who doesn't love dies?!  I embossed some flowers up in white and I was ready to go.  I must thank my sweet mom who let me use ALL of her supplies!  I opted out of bringing anything with me this trip!!!  I'm so thankful for her!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White
DSP: Night of Navy
Stamps: Secret Garden, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Versamark
Other: White Embossing Powder, Basic Rhinestones, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Blue Twine, Ribbon Slide, Dimensionals, Bitty Banners Framelits

Two little pictures of my little boys!  Caleb's job this week is to help Papa with wood.  Papa loads the wheelbarrow and brings the wood to the door...Caleb then hands it all to Papa!  He's been a great help and done it so willingly!

Monster truck driving is always a favourite activity around here!  Each of the boys has a truck to drive and they are CRAZY!  The snowbanks are a bit of an issue but they are slowly learning!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Please check out the Freshly Made Sketches website to see the fabulous card the design team has created for you!

Have a great week!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #76

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Can you believe it's Wednesday already?  How does that happen so fast?  We are currently counting down the hours until Daddy comes home at our house!!!  My husband has been on a small business trip but whenever he's out of town my boys seem to go crazy!  The sure do miss him when he's gone!

Another Wednesday means another sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Along with a new sketch comes a new look to the blog and some new designers!  Welcome Narelle and Amy!!!  We are so happy you've joined us!!!    The fabulous Linda Suarez has a great sketch for us this week.  I must say I had fun with this one!

I needed a sympathy card for family friends who lost a cherished Grandma and Great Grandma.  I wanted to keep it simple and you all know how I feel about Very Vanilla, butterflies and pearls!

I decided to try the butterflies in gold and loved the finished look!  They may be too much for some...but I do love gold!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Versamark, Soft Suede
Other: Gold Embossing Powder, Basic Pearls, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!

Please stop by the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the fabulous cards our design team has come up with!

Have a great day!
