Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #51

Happy Wednesday!  Yesterday was the first day of school here in Ontario and I sent one of my babes to school today!  Caleb had his first day of Grade 1 and came home happy, excited and looking forward to tomorrow.  Overall it sounds like he had a great day and he has two fantastic teachers!

Wednesday here means that it is also a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Cindy Hall has brought us a great sketch this week!  Check out her blog if you want to see some beautiful cards!!!

I decided I had better get some Christmas cards done since that season will be upon us in no time at all. I really love the Champagne Glimmer Paper and try and use it whenever possible!  I decided to combine that with the Candlelight Specialty DSP.  I mixed in an ornament (stamped with Early Espresso Embossing Powder) from the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set to complete the card!  I used the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Die to cut out the glimmer cardstock then fussy cut around the stamped ornament!

Cardstock: Early Espresso (Core'dinations), Very Vanilla, Champagne Glimmer
DSP: Candlelight Specialty
Stamps: Four the Holidays (retired), Ornament Keepsakes
Ink: Versarmark, Early Espresso
Other: Dimensionals, Basic Pearls, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Holiday Ormanents Framelits,

Here is a picture of my little cutie on his first day of school!  I made the card he's holding in My Digital Studio (following a template from Heather Summer!).  Oh how the years are flying by too fast!

  1. Hi Jen! Love your Christmas card! So elegant! Yes, the years fly by! My little one is now 23 years old but I still remember her first day of school.

  2. No, no, no, no!!! I don't own this I must have it! You enabler, you! Gor-jus! Adorable card for your awesome little fellow!

  3. Well, you've just made me think about my first day of school. I distinctly remember my first day of kindergarten but I have no recollection of first grade. I assume all went well and I'm sure my mother had mixed emotions as I was the youngest :) I'm sure you've got mixed emotions as well but you've captured his excitement with your adorable photo! Now let's talk Christmas. Yikes! You're way ahead of me and this card is just spectacular! And I can't wait to get my hands on that champagne glimmer paper!

  4. An absolutely stunning card, Jen! I love this paper. The glimmer paper really sets everything off! And what a cutie all ready for his first day of school! Cherish the memories...they grow up so quickly!

  5. This is so elegant. The ornament is a beautiful feature of this card. This paper is gorgeous and paired with the glimmer paper --- stunning.

  6. Stunning card Jen - clean, classic and elegant!

  7. Your cards are so stunning, Jen. You always have the best, best texture to your cards!!

  8. Jennifer, this is a beautiful elegant Christmas card!! Love how you added the glimmer and the colors are terrific.
