Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #620

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  The weather has finally warmed up and the sun has finally come out!  I have never been so excited.  My youngest son and I went grocery shopping on Monday and the wind was so bitter.  It warmed up almost 20 degrees between Monday and Tuesday!  I'll take it!

We have a fantastic new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Jacquie Southas!  Jacquie's cards are always so beautiful and the one she has made for today might just be my favourite!!!  If you know me you know that I love gnomes so this card makes me super happy!  Head over to her blog and check it out!

So I needed a baby card and knew I had to use this sketch to make one!  I was running out of time and left it a little too long!  Let's say it didn't come together as easy or as well as I wanted it to.  This wasn't quite what I had in mind but this is what we're left with!  I had tried to get some new baby themed stuff at the store the other day but couldn't find much so we went with what we already had!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock
Patterned Paper: Gingham Happy Hearts (Honey Bee Stamps)
Other: Dainty Diamonds Textured Embossing Folder,  Baby's First Framelits Dies (SU - retired), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Nested Circles (Pink Fresh Studios), Circle Dies (Spellbinders), Bedtime Stories Sequin Mix (Honey Bee Stamps), Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week!  If you need some inspiration you'll find some on the blog.  We can't wait to see what you create this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #509

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I actually got this out on time this week!  I'm pretty pumped about that!  I kept reminding myself all day that today was Tuesday!  I had a lovely walk yesterday with my friend Donna.  We always find great new trails to explore and this time we didn't even get lost.  The week before last we got very lost.  Our husbands make fun of us because we're both directionally challenged but that's okay.  We've got each other for support!

We've got a fabulous new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess is the incredible Jen Timko!  Jen is such a talented card maker and a great friend!  Head over to her blog and check out her amazing creations!

Jen went with with a great slimline sketch!  I love the looks of slimline cards but do struggle to come up with ideas!  I actually needed two baby cards this week so I decided I would use this sketch to get those done!  I needed one for a baby boy and one for a baby girl!  I do love the Zoo Babies stamp set even though it's been retired for ages!

Supplies
Cardstock: Basic White, Lost Lagoon, Pink Pirouette
Stamps: Zoo Babies, Sentiment Flag Additions
Ink: Smoky Slate
Other: Double Stitched Square Dies (Lil Inkers), Stitched Scallop Squares, Sequins, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll take some time to go and check to the cards the Design Team ladies have created!  They're gorgeous!  We also hope you'll join in our challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #436

Hello!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week.  Yesterday our schools were officially cancelled for the rest of the year.  I find it really hard to believe.  I am totally okay with it, don't get me wrong.  I just didn't realize before the March break that it would be the end of the year.  I realize now that Caleb (my oldest) won't get his Grade 8 grad.  I still remember my Grade 8 grad like it was yesterday.  Thankfully (and probably because he's a boy) he doesn't really care!  He didn't like the thoughts of having to dress up and walk across the stage!  Oh boys!

We have a brand new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  I have the joy of being the hostess this week!  I wanted to keep the sketch very simple.  I had in my mind that I would use it to make my son's 14th birthday card.  His birthday is tomorrow.  Obviously that didn't happen!  Best of intentions!

You can also probably see that I put my sentiment in the wrong spot!  Actually,  had it in the right spot but the rhino and the sentiment didn't look right so I had to switch them.  My dad's cousin needed some gender neutral baby cards.  I knew white would be the ideal colour.  I haven't done a shaker card in a LONG time so I figured it was about time to crack out the sequins!

I made a second card (actually this was the first card) using the retiring poppy DSP.  I just love that paper.  The Sweetly Stitched Dies might just be my favourite ever and I think they get used on pretty much every card right now!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Smokey Slate
Stamps: Zoo Babies, Sentiment Flags
Ink: Smokey Slate
Other: Sentiment Flags Dies, Stitched Frames, Softly Falling TIEF, Sequins (Taylored Expressions), Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out all the amazing cards the the Design Team has created!  They are absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see what you come up with this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #320

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We've got a bit of snow on the ground right now so the kids are happy.  They like to play in the snow at school and they both really like to shovel snow.  There is rain in the forecast though so I'm assuming our snow will disappear - which I don't mind but leads to lots of indoor recesses and squirmy kids!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches courtesy of the amazingly talented Kim Singdahlsen.  Kim's cards are fantastic and she comes up with the best designs!  I could totally go and play in her craft room for hours too!  I've always wanted to visit Colorado!

I must admit that at first I was a little stumped with this design.  I started to panic a bit but then realized that I needed a baby card for my sister in law who had a baby early in December.  Now, don't think I'm a slacker and just sending the card now!  Kim had her sketch ready super duper early because she's amazing and so my card was done a LONG time ago!!!  I decided to stick with the heart theme, added some glimmer pink, threw in some texture and voila.  A card to welcome my first niece!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Glimmer Pink (Non-SU)
Stamps: Sentiment Flag Additions (Lil Inkers)
Ink: Stazon Black
Other: Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Stitched Flags Die (Lil Inkers), Hearts Dies (Spellbinders), Dimenaionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the amazing cards the Design Team has created!  You can also welcome our Guest Designer Teresa Kline to the team!

Have a fabulous day!

Welcome Little Miss Croghan!

As many of you know, Lesley and Corey Croghan are expecting a sweet baby girl in April!  To help these two welcome this sweet bundle, the very creative Lori Turner has asked us to create some cards to send off to the new parents-to-be!  If you head over to Lori's blog, you'll see that she's got a blog hop going.  This is my first blog hop.  I truly have no idea what I'm doing!!!

I had the wonderful privilege of meeting Lesley in person two summers ago! Lesley's mother in law and my parents happen to live in the same city and we were fortunate enough to both be visiting our respective parents at the same time and were able to sneak out for a lunch together!  Lesley is truly as sweet in person as she is on her blog!

I am truly thankful for Lesley and all the card challenges she has created!  She posted a long time ago for some openings on the Freshly Made Sketches Design Team.  I loved that challenge.  I had dreamed of being able to join that team of wonderful ladies.  Lesley gave me that change and I will forever be grateful!  It truly has been one of the best experiences and I've created friendships that I will treasure forever!

Lesley and Corey, we are so excited for you and can't wait for your little girl to arrive!  You will make amazing parents!

Congratulations!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #266

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week and your Christmas preparations are going well.  I'm slowly trying to get some gift wrapping done.  I had some "help" from our kitten with the wrapping and I'm thinking she may be as bad as having a toddler!    I guess it will get done soon enough!!!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the one and only Amy O'Neill!  Amy is our resident colour expert and makes such amazing and creative projects!

I needed to make a baby card - well a twins card for a friend of mine who's wife recently had two beautiful little girls!  Now, this card may change between now and when I give it to them!  I am not totally happy with the background!  I really should have either used some texture or some different paper.  I was a little frustrated when I made the card and decided that it would be better to have a card finished than to not have one finished!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey, Pink Glimmer (Recollections)
Stamps: Something for Baby, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Smokey Slate, Pink Pirouette
Other: Baby's First Framelits, Botanical Builders Framelits, Basic Pearls, Bitty Banner Framelits, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the amazing cards the Design Team has created or you!

Have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #242

Hello
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week!  My boys have a count down to the end of school.  I believe there are 7 school days left.  It seems like the year is dragging on this year!  My kids are done and can't wait for the summer holidays to start!  I could use a few extra days to get ready for camp but I don't think that's going to happen!

We have a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Narelle Farrugia!  Narelle is the queen of layers and flowers and everything amazing!  Her sketch is pretty fun too!  Of course they are some giant circles on there!
I knew as soon as I saw this sketch that I wanted to use my new wreath die from Lil' Inkers!  I couldn't wait to crack it open!  I may have also ordered the Silly Stitched Die Set too!  I love those random wonky lines!  I needed a baby card so I decided I would see if I could make this work!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Crumb Cake
Stamps: Warm Welcome (Lil' Inkers)
Ink: Stazon Black, Marina Mist, Cucumber Crush, So Saffron
Other: Warm Welcome Dies (Lil Inkers), Silly Stitched Dies (Lil Inkers), Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Welcome Baby!

Hello!
I hope you are having a great start to your week!  I just got in from boot camp and am feeling rather sleepy!  Writing this post is taking a lot of focus!!!

I made this card some time last week but only managed to get it upstairs to take a picture today!  I'm so ashamed!  I loved the sketch at Seize The Sketch this week!  Such clean lines!  I just had to play along!

I really do love the new Something for Baby stamp set!  I also love that it has a coordinating die set!  Easy Peasy!  I have always wanted to do one of those wrinkled bows.  My friend Jennifer Timko is making them often and they are always so beautiful!  I'm not sure mine turned out the way I wanted it to!  I had to add some pearls, a bit of sponging and some distressing with the Distressing Tool.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Stamps: Something for Baby, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Sahara Sand
Other: Baby's First Framelits, Bitty Banners Framelits, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Basic Pearls, Sponge Daubers, Distressing Tool, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  The new Freshly Made Sketches post will also be coming up in a few hours so make sure you come back!

Have a fabulous day!

My cousin Kathleen had a dear baby boy born at 31 weeks weighing a hearty 3 lbs 14 oz a week ago.  He is currently in the NICU of a hospital in London.   I wanted to make a special card to welcome Decklan into the world.  We are praying he gets stronger and healthier with each passing day.

Sweet Baby

Hello!
Hope you're having a great week so far!  I love Thursdays...at least for right now I do!  They're my quiet day...both boys are at school and my volunteering doesn't start until next Thursday so I really have the day to myself!  That being said there is always a ton of stuff to do!!!  Never a dull moment!

I loved the Paper Players sketch this week!  I need a baby card for my neighbours who had a beautiful baby boy (Joshua) last week.  This sketch worked for what I had in mind!  Now if only I could find a sketch that worked for an anniversary card for my upcoming anniversary!!!

I think the Zoo Babies stamp set is perfect for this card!  I stamped the elephant in Bashful Blue and then stamped it again in Midnight Muse and cut out his ear!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
DSP: Midnight Muse DSP Paper Stack
Stamps: Zoo Babies, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Bashful Blue, Midnight Muse
Other: Bitty Banners Framelits, Argyle Textured Embossing Folder, Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Large Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Mojo Monkeys!

Hello!
I trust you had a good week/weekend.  It's been busy here.  The boys were home with me last week so that meant zero card making!  Trevor decided to take the boys to the flying field on Saturday with him so that meant that I did get some card making done!!! Yay!

I had a customer request for a baby shower card with brown, orange and yellow monkeys on it.  I decided to alter the Mojo Monday sketch slightly and instead of just one "star" to add three monkeys!  I tried different embossed background (sigh...) but decided the polka dots looks best for a baby shower card.

I like that the shower card is different looking and not traditional colours!  It was fun to make!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Early Espresso
Stamps: Fox and Friends (retired), Cuddles and Kisses
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso
Other: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back tomorrow with another card!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #82

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Today was a crazy/different day at the Brum house.  Caleb came home from school not feeling so hot but seemed to recover quickly once home - which makes me happy!

Wednesday brings a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  I am this week's hostess and very excited about that!  I hope you like the sketch I have for you!
I needed to make a card for a friend of mine who's about to become the aunt to twin baby girls!  I decided that cute little dresses would be perfect for this card.  The two step owl punch is perfect for making dresses!  I couldn't help to add some rosettes and pearls!  I mean little girls love rosettes and pearls don't they?!  I actually have no idea since our house is full of boys and trucks and trains and airplanes!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Rose Red, Early Espresso
DSP: Rose Red DSP
Stamps: Cuddles and Kisses, Baby Bundle (hangers for dress)
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Basic Pearls, Two-Step Owl Punch, Labels Framelits Dies, Sanding Block, Rosettes, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see what the rest of the fabulous Clean Team has created for you!

Retro Sketches Elephant

Hello!
I can't believe our March Break is almost over.  That makes me sad.  The week has gone by do fast!  It has been a great week and we've enjoyed every minute with my mom and dad!  The boys are looking forward to seeing their Dad though!

I needed to make a card for my girlfriend who had a baby last month!  I was waiting until I saw her and met this beautiful baby to give her the card!  I used this week's Retro Sketches sketch to create the card.

I had wanted to give hexagon cutting a try.  Let's just say that it takes a bit of practise (or took me a bit of practise!) but after a while it's pretty simple!  Just make sure you're using great scissors!  I wanted to go with Baja Breeze since I thought it would look best with the Crumb Cake cardstock.  I embossed the elephant from Patterned Occasions and then cut him out (cutting off the sentiment and flowers).

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler
DSP: Baja Breeze
Stamps: Patterned Occasions, Tiny Tags
Ink: Versamark, Baja Breeze
Other: Tiny Tag Punch, White Embossing Powder, Hexagon Embossing Folder, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Two-Step Owl Punch (Heart), Linen Thread, Dimensionals

I've attached a few pictures of my newest little friend Andrew!  Isn't he sweet?!  I was able to snuggle him on Tuesday and then again today!!!  So sweet!  I can't believe how small newborns are!  Seems like so long ago my boys were ever this tiny (and even smaller!).

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a great day!

Deconstructed Sketch

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I attended a baby shower today for a friend's sister.  She's having a little boy but she is very girly!  I wanted to make her a card that was vintage and girly but still boyish.  I have recently discovered The Deconstructed Sketch and wanted to play along this week!

I had ordered the soda pop tops a while ago and hadn't used them yet.  Since this card wasn't going in the mail I wanted to give them a try!  I decided to use the Tea for Two DSP since it fit my vintage/girly/boyish theme!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Island Indigo
DSP: Tea for Two
Stamps: Collage Curios, Itty Bitty Banners, Hearts a Flutter
Ink: So Saffron, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake
Other: 1" Circle Punch, Basic Pearls, Island Indigo Ribbon, Bitty Banners Framelits Dies, Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies, Soda Pop Tops, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great rest of your weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #66

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  This is going to be a faster post today since I'm rushing out the door again!  Story of my life these days!  I was at the school today and got to preview the kids Christmas concert for Thursday.  They are all so sweet.  In light of the tragedy in Connecticut I truly treasured being in the gym with all 800 students watching them get ready for Christmas!  I also am deeply heartbroken for the families of the students and staff that were senselessly killed in last Friday's tragedy.  My family and I have so much to be thankful for this Christmas season.

Today brings a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Tui Nathan (who is so incredibly talented) brings us a fun sketch that now looking at it I realize I didn't quite follow...oops!  Sorry about that.

I wanted and needed to make a baby card for my friend Jeanette who had her fifth and final baby last Monday (yes, I'm slow!).  She had a little girl after 4 wonderful little boys!  I figured she was now ready for a lot of pink!!!

I used the retired (sadly) Fox and Friends stamp set.  It's perfect for baby cards!  I also got out the Doily Sizzlet and used that!  I must say that I am really loving Primrose Petals!  I think after all the Christmas cards it was super fun to do a baby card!

Make sure you check out the Freshly Made Sketches blog as well as the other members of the design team.  You won't be disappointed!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Primrose Petals,  Pink Pirouette
DSP: Patio Party, Primrose Petals DSP
Stamps: Fox and Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Primrose Petals
Other: Rhinestones, Circle Punches, Large Delicate Doilies Sizzlet, Dimesionals,

Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #53

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I love Wednesday's.  Wednesday's Jacob and I get to spend the day together!  These days will soon be over so I must learn to treasure them more and more!  Funny enough Jacob told me all about the kids that didn't obey Mrs. Cooper yesterday!  He's hilarious.  I thought for sure he'd be at the top of that list but so far so good!

Wednesday's also bring a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches! This week's sketch is brought to us from the land down under and the fabulous Tui Nathan!  The stripes kinda threw me.  I didn't quite know what to do with them.  I decided to reduce the number slightly since I wanted to use wider stripes and finally crack open the Moving Forward stamp set!  It's so cute!  I paper pieced this stamp together a bit!  I thought it should be a two-toned boat!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Real Red
DSP: In Colour (2012-2014) DSP Paper Stack
Ink: Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Real Red
Stamps: Moving Forward, Itty Bitty Banners
Other: Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder, 2 3/8" Scalloped Punch, Bitty Banners Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a fabulous day!

Welcome Baby Girl!

Hello!
Sorry that I've been MIA!  It's been a crazy long week!  Our kid's camp at church is over now.  We had a great week and my boys had a blast.  They're sad there isn't another week of camp!

So a friend of mine announced this weekend that she is pregnant with her 5th bundle of joy.  Now, she has 4 beautiful boys and are expecting a precious bundle wrapped in a pink bow!  I am very excited for them!  Now my friend is a fabulous mom and is totally into her boys.  I know she will be getting lots of cards with pink but as a mom of boys the pink thing doesn't necessarily come naturally!  I wanted to break her in easy!!!!

I decided to try out the Dynamic Duos challenge along with the Sunday Stamps challenge this week.  The colour combo for Dynamic Duos was perfect for the card!  I decided to add 4 blue flowers for the four boys and one little pink flower for the family's soon to be princess!

I hopefully will be back tomorrow with another card!  I'm in the middle of filling a few card orders so it will be a bit busy BUT I will give it my best shot!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette
DSP: Elegant Soiree (Retired)
Stamps: Perfectly Preserved, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake
Other: Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Basic Pearls, Bitty Banners Framelits Dies, Cannery Set Framelits Dies, Dimensionals, Finishing Touches Edgelits Dies

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

CAS-ual Baby

 Hello!
I hope your week has started out well!  I wasn't too impressed with the weather we had here in Southern Ontario - including some snow!  Thankfully it did not stay on the ground!   Looking forward to warmer weather towards the end of the week!

I had a friend deliver her baby last week at 29 weeks gestation.  Her little princess is a mere 1.9 lbs and has started the biggest fight of her life.  Her mom had an emergency c-section (due to pre-eclampsia) and is recovering but they are struggling to accept this new normal.  We have been praying for this dear family and their new little bundle!

I wanted to make a special card for them to let them know that we are thinking of them and praying for them but also congratulating them on this special arrival!

I used the CAS-ual Fridays sketch this week to come up with the idea for the card.  I had seen the cute dresses a few different places and thought they would be cute for the card!  They are made using the Owl belly from the 2-step Owl Builder Punch.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum
Stamps: Baby Bundle
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Basic Pearls, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

Hello!  Did you have a great Saturday? I enjoyed a morning to myself which really meant I was able to do some chores around the house without any little helpers!

I wanted to share my submission for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge. This week's challenge was to create a CAS (Clean and Simple) baby card!  I happen to know a few people having babies!  Most of them are having girls as well!

This might be a little too pink but there is pretty much NO pink in this house so I tend to go overboard when I get the chance!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Stamps: Baby Bundle, Little Angel (retired)
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Blushing Bride Ruffled Satin Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Heart to Heart Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Baby!

Hello!
I managed to tackle the Mojo Monday sketch early this week!  I was quite proud of myself!

I had a customer request a baby card for a new niece but the parents of this adorable bundle are not big fans of pink.

I went with the square card. The round cards still intimidate me!!!  This card is 4 1/4" so it would fit in a regular A2 envelope.

The baby carriage is embossed with white embossing powder to add a bit of texture.  I used the vanilla velvet stitched ribbon to soften up the card a bit.  The pink rhinestones add a bit of girliness (is that even a word?!) to the card without it being too pink.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
DSP: Chocolate Chip DSP
Stamps: Baby Bundle
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Other: White Embossing Powder, Vanilla stitched Velvet Ribbon, Mini Library Clip, Pink Rhinestones, Paper Flower,  Heart to Heart Punch

Thanks for stopping by!
