Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #71

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week!  We are having a more relaxed week here...if that's even possible!  We are gearing up for a busy weekend though.

Wednesdays are good days though and bring many good things!  One of the best things about Wednesdays is the new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week the lovely and talented Linda Callahan has a great sketch for us.  I must admit this one had me!  Usually it's the circles that get me but the tag did it for me this week!

Okay...I think I broke every rule of a Freshly Made Sketches card when I made mine so maybe don't follow my lead!!!  I am not usually a cluttered, shabby, vintage look girl (as you probably know).  I tend to stick to the clean and simple look.  I'll probably get fired for this one!!!  I have seen some great shabby/chic cards during the last few weeks and wanted to give one a try.  I also had this flower left that I really wanted to use up!
Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Primrose Petals
DSP: First Edition, Tea for Two
Stamps: Itty Bitties
Ink: Primrose Petals
Other: Artisan Embellishment Kit, Designer Builder Brad, Flower (Prima), Sanding Block, Distressing Tool, Stapler

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches Blog to check out the amazing Design Team creations!

Have a great day!

Seize the Birthday Challenge

Hello!
I trust everyone had a good start to their week.  Our Monday was very wet and and our snow is slowly disappearing.  The boys won't be too happy about that!  They sure do love playing outside.  They came in just before dinner soaking wet!

I was commissioned to create a card for friend this week.  Her request was a purple and pink card with cupcakes!   I needed a sketch to start from since I did not feel the creative juices flowing.  I decided to give the Seize the Birthday Challenge a try!  I love birthday cards and never have enough!  I realize now that I totally forgot to put the banner on my card that is in the sketch!  Oh dear!  Lesley...please forgive me!!!

I love the new hexagon embossing folder from Stampin' Up!  I could use it on every card if I had the chance!!!  I decided to add some pearls to the cupcakes instead of glitter this time.  Just seemed to work better!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
DSP: Perfect Plum
Stamps: Create a Cupcake, Basic Label, You're Amazing
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink
Other: Basic Pearls, Create a Cupcake Punch, Hexagon Embossing Folder, Glimmer Brads, Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies, Dimensionals

Enjoy your day!

Just for You!

Hello!
Hope you had a great weekend!  We had a much quieter weekend which was very nice!  I got my baby shower invitations done (yay!) and I was even able to get some scrapbooking done.  I'm no where near caught up but that's okay!

I decided to tackle the Paper Players and Dynamic Duos Challenges today with one card!  I loved the colours challenge this week at Dynamic Duos! Soft Suede and Crumb cake have got to be my favourite colours!  Pair those up with Very Vanilla and I'm in heaven!

I really loved the sketch at the Paper Players.  I had trouble with the circle and finally decided to just cut out the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set.  It took me a few tries with the butterflies until I was happy with them.  I added a little clear embossing powder to get them to look a bit darker!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Booming with Kindness, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Versamark
Other: Clear Embossing Powder, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Basic Pearls, Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Bitty Banners Framelits Die, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

New York Style!

Hello!
I can't believe it's almost the end of the week!  How does that happen so quickly!  I'm in the process of getting 45 baby shower invitations ready and it's consuming most of my time right now!  I will hopefully get another new card posted on the weekend but we won't hold our breath!

I was commissioned by a friend to create a shower card - New York Style!  Okay, let's be honest.  I've never been to New York, I don't watch (and haven't ever watched) "Sex in the City" so when it comes to fashionista cards - I'm probably not your girl!  My friend, however, trusts me with this (Thank you Lauren...since I know you're reading this!).

I started with the Retro Sketches Challenge sketch for this week.  I threw in a purse and a shoe - and of course a wand (who doesn't want a wand?!) and viola!  The purse, shoe and wand started out red but then quickly changed to silver since the red just didn't quite look right.  Silver seemed to be a more fashionista colour...I could be wrong though...very wrong!!!  I used the Boho Blossoms punch to create a new flower on the purse!

I'm trusting this will meet the approval of the bride to be!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps: Dress Up, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Versamark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Bitty Banners Framelits Dies, Lacy Brocade Textured Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Boho Blossoms Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #70

Hello!
This might be the second post of the day for some of you...I'm a little slow today at getting things going!  I'm looking forward to a few minutes in my craft room this afternoon.  I have a few cards and MANY invitations I need to be working on.  I also hear that my favourite UPS delivery man might be coming to visit me tomorrow!  There's also a DHL delivery man coming but he's bringing airplanes and they certainly aren't for me!!!

I wanted to keep today's Freshly Made Sketches challenge card simple.  Rita Wright (who is amazingly talented and has the most beautiful little girl!) has a fabulous sketch for us today and I wanted to make a card that didn't take me hours.  I don't have hours and most of you don't have hours!  I wanted something I could repeat and change out colours and embellishments easily!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit
DSP: Print Poetry DSP Stack
Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Topsy Turvey
Ink: Versamark, Midnight Muse
Other: Clear Embossing Powder, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Natural Trim Ribbon, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see all of the other fabulous design team cards!  What a talented bunch of ladies!!!

Love Wall Hanging

Hello!
Sorry about the lack of posts this week.  We had company all weekend and I didn't step foot in my craft room!  That being said up until a few minutes ago it was still neat and tidy!!!

I wanted to make a Valentine's Banner to hang in my kitchen (similar to the one I made for Fall).  I love the new More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper and couldn't resist!!!  I probably should have used the Raspberry Ripple Ribbon instead of the Very Vanilla for hanging it but I wanted something a little thicker (so it didn't fall apart).  I used some of the stiffer white cardstock that comes in Stampin' Up paper packs at the backings for each of my squares.  Just a little stiffer than regular Whisper White...

I had a blast putting all sorts of different hearts on the banner!  I do love the new Hearts a Flutter bundle!  I must say I am going to find ways to use this all year round!!!  I used My Digital Studio to print out the letters and then hand cut them...there has to be an easier way!!!

Now to plan my Easter banner!!!  Maybe Spring?  Who knows?  I'm open to ideas and suggestions!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Pool Party (Core'dinations), Primrose Petals (Core'dinations), Rich Razzleberry
DSP: More Amore Specialty
Stamps: Hearts a Flutter, Cross My Heart
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Versamark
Other: Hearts a Flutter Framelites, White Embossing Powder, Pool Party Embossing Powder, Fashionable Hearts Embosslit, Linen Thread, Basic Rhinestones, Sycamore Street Button, Pool Party Bakers Twine, Full Heart Punch, Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, Primrose Petals Ribbon, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll hopefully be back tomorrow!!!

Have a great day!

Seize the Birthday Cards...a little late!

Hello!

Hope the week is going well for you!  We're having a crazy busy week here!  I was really hoping for a nice relaxing Thursday!  Ha!  Not a chance!  I was cleaning this morning since I had no children at home with me!  Lunch duty at the school was something else...let's just say we had blood, vomit and a pink, itchy eye all in one hour - all from different kids!  Life is never dull!  If I come out of this unscathed it will be a miracle!!!

Hello!

I wanted to make a really quick birthday card today.  I noticed my supply of birthday cards was dwindling quickly and I wanted to build that up but wanted to make it easy peasy.

I also love (and I mean LOVE) the Bitty Butterfly punch and the tiny Scalloped Circle punch and that Petite Curly Label punch!  I mean who doesn't love little punches?!

Thank You Butterflies!

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  We are getting back into the swing of things around here!  Trevor goes back to work tomorrow so I'll be really on my own on "Titanic Tuesday"!  I was so excited to sit down in the craft room this afternoon and get some Thank You cards done.   I can't wait to get back in there and get a few birthday cards done!  Hope you can forgive me for being MIA for the end of 2012!

I decided to keep the cards simple since I needed 6 of them and only had a small block of time to get them done!  I loved the colours from the Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week.  Who doesn't love Melon Mambo, Basic Black and Basic Grey together?!  I mean seriously?!  I popped these colours into this week's Retro Sketches challenge sketch and voila!

I had been itching to get out my honeycomb embossing folder! It can be found in the new spring catalogue!  I love it!  I think you may see it on several upcoming cards (my apologies in advance!).  I'm sure you all knew that I would be buying the new Bitty Butterfly punch!  I mean come on?!  A tiny little butterfly?  How could I resist?!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners, Papillon Potpourri
Ink: Basic Black

A couple of pictures from our trip to our to visit my parents.  They have a ton of snow!  It was so cold the day I took these!  Caleb is such a great help!  My dad and Caleb worked for hours making a jump for their sliding run!  They sure do love the snow and loved being at Papa and Grannie's house!

Thanks for stopping by!  I will be back on Wednesday with a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!
