Freshly Made Sketches #528

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We're having a quieter week.  Two sick kids at home means we aren't going too far (they're not going anywhere!) but sometimes that's okay.  I needed this little break!  The sun has been shining and we've had some glorious weather!  I also love that the sun sets much later now!  It's so nice to have longer and warmer days!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite Californian design team member Jacquie Southas!  Jacquie is an amazing card maker and her cards always make me smile!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

I wasn't too sure what I wanted to do for this card and tried a few different things before I settled on using the Lovely Layers Greenery Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps!  I decided to cut one in Garden Green then another one to slide behind it out of Champagne Foil Cardstock.  The background needed a little texture so I used a woodgrain embossing folder.  Of course what card is complete without some sequins?  I feel like I might have used a few too many.  Sorry, not sorry?!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Garden Green, Champagne Foil
Stamps: Well, Hello (MFT)
Ink: Garden Green
Other: Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Lovely Layers Greenery Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Sequins

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in on our challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #527

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We've got some beautiful springy weather here!  I won't hold my breath though.  I figure winter has a few more dirty tricks up its sleeve still!  I will enjoy the sun and the warmth while I can though!  It's nice to see the snow melt!!!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Judy Rozema!  Judy's cards are always so lovely so you need to head to her blog to check them out!

Judy's sketch threw me a little this week.  I had in my head what I was going to do and then when I tried it, it definitely didn't work.  I had to start from square one.  Or is it rectangle one?!   I really wanted to use my new tulip dies and I wanted to try out my tulips in a Calypso Coral colour!  I'm not sure if there are tulips that are this colour but I'm sure there are!

I had to flip the sketch horizontally to make it work but I think that you can sort of see the sketch in there! I used my blending brushes to colour some ink on my tulip petals to give them some different depth of colour!  I definitely don't think the picture does the tulips justice!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Calypso Coral, Crisp Canteloupe, Petal Pink, Garden Green,
DSP: Gingham Gala (Retired)
Stamps: Bitty Buzzwords (Honey Bee Stamps)
Ink: Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Canteloupe, Petal Pink, Garden Green
Other: Bitty Buzzwords Honey Cuts, Lovely Layers Tulips, Vellum, Dimensionals, Blending Brushes

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join us in our challenge this week!  The Design Team has come up with some inspiring cards to spur you on!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We're in a bit of a cold spell but there are warm chinook winds coming in soon and we're supposed to have lovely "warm" weather!  Living close to the mountains sure has brought some interesting weather!  I must say though I do love the dry air.  No more dampness, no more humidity!!

We have a great new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Amy O'Neill!  Amy's cards are always so sweet and so beautiful so please head over to her blog to check them out!

I had to snap up the Lovely Layers Tulips Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps!  Tulips are my favourite flower so I could not wait to get them!  I'm not uber impressed with this card but I still think the tulips are so beautiful!  I used blending brushes to add in colour to the tulips!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #525

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  Can you believe it's March already?!  I swear February flew by at lightening speed!

We've got a brand new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess is the amazing Karren Johnson!  Karren is one of the most creative people I know (the other amazingly creative people I know are also on this team!).  Head over to Karren's blog to check out her gorgeous creations!

I decided to rebel a bit and turned Karren's sketch on it's side.  I really wanted to use the Hydrangea Honey Cuts Dies and they would only really work if I turned the sketch horizontally!  I kept the colours fairly neutral and added some pearls and sequins and voila!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Granny Apple Green, Lucky Limeade, Brushed Gold
Stamps: Little Birthday Notes
Ink: Versamark, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Sahara Sand
Other: Lovely Layers Hydrangea Honey Cuts, Pearls, Sequins, Gold Embossing Powder, Subtle Texture Embossing Folder

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches Blog and join in our challenge!  The Design Team has created a bunch of gorgeous cards to inspire you!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #523

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Guys, we're halfway through February already!  How did that happen?  We're heading into a long weekend here in Canada and my boys are off next week for winter break.  I'm looking forward to a break from the craziness and hopefully we're able to do a few exciting things next week!

We've got a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  I am so honoured to be this week's hostess!  I always struggle with sketch design!  I'm a very linear thinker so I find coming up with things that are different a challenge!  Anyhow, I hope you will decide to join in our challenge this week!

So this isn't my first card.  I know it's shocking right?  My first card was actually a Valentine for my husband but I'm not sure I like it.  I think he did though.  I also forgot to take a picture before I gave it to him and he's been locked in his office and I couldn't grab it.  Maybe I'll learn my lesson!

I felt the urge to create another flower card but my new flower dies were all too bit and the tulips seemed a bit too small so I grabbed some poppies instead!  Not sure I've ever seen a yellow poppy but we'll use our imaginations won't we?!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Black Glimmer
Stamps: Little Birthday Notes (MFT)
Ink: Versafine Black
Other: Poppy Moments Dies, Stitched Frame, Subtle Texture Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week!  I know you'll be inspired when you see the cards the other ladies on our team have created!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches #522

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to the week!  We've had some very non winter weather here.  It's been super warm - or at least warmer than I'm used to!  It's been amazing for getting outside!  We've been able to get lots of fresh air!  More than we ever have in winter before!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches from our favourite Colorado hostess, Kim Singdahlsen!!! Kim's cards are so pretty!  I always love what she creates!  Please head over to her blog and check them out!

I might have taken a slightly loose interpretation of the sketch!  Well...I didn't think it was going to be a loose interpretation until I actually finished the card and realized that the leaves didn't quite look like the strip in the back the way I wanted them to.   I can't get enough of these Lovely Layers flowers from Honey Bee Stamps!  I guess I just find the flowers so cheery!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic White, Granny Apple Green, Black Glimmer, Silver
Stamps: Bitty Buzzwords (Honey Bee Stamps)
Ink: Basic Black, Smoky Slate
Other: Dainty Diamonds Textured Embossing Folder, Lovely Layers Anemone Buzz Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps),  Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Elegant Sequin Mix,Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out some amazing cards!

We hope you'll join in our challenge this week!  We can't wait to see what you create!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #521

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  I'm so confused with what day it is because my boys had a PA Day (Day off school) on Monday and I keep thinking we're a day behind!  My oldest started a new semester and is super excited to have Military Studies as a course!  He will love it!  My youngest will be sewing a pair of pyjamas at school!  They have some pretty cool course choices here in Alberta!

Anyhow, we have a fabulous new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Our hostess is the witty Linda Callahan!  Linda creates gorgeous cards and keeps us in stitches!  Head over to her blog and check out her beautiful creations!

So this sketch threw me for a while and in the end I apparently couldn't follow it very well!  Seriously.  My tulip is a little too high.  Unfortunately, it's not moving!  I do love a springy looking tulip and needed a little spot of spring on this cold, snowy winter day!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush, Vellum
DSP: Sunshine and Rainbows 6X6 pack
Stamps: Bitty Buzzwords (Honey Bee Stamps)
Ink: Versamark, Garden Green, Melon Mambo, Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Bitty Buzzwords Honey Cuts, Tulips Dies, Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Subtle Shimmer Sequins, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog!  You'll find a beautiful array of cards to inspire you!  We sure hope you'll join in our challenge this week.

Have an amazing day!
