Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #404

Happy Wednesday!  It's Wednesday already!!!  Yay!!!  I actually love Wednesdays!  They're my "at home" day!  I usually spent the morning cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming.  I know, really exciting!!!  I actually have to hit a grocery store today because we are out of cucumbers and Jacob LOVES cucumbers.  He would eat a cucumber a day if you let him!  I guess I can't complain!  We're heading to our first (and probably last) Toronto Maple Leaf's game tonight!  It's a pre-season game and we decided this would be our one big winter treat - in September!!!  The kids are super excited!!

Okay, so we have a brand new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches! Our hostess this week our our Texan friend Amy O'Neill!  Amy is our colour-matching, element placing queen!  Head over to her blog to check out her gorgeous creations!

So shockingly, I knew what I wanted to do with this sketch right away!  I needed a wedding card for the wedding we attended last Friday evening and this was going to be it!  I love the Modern Heart Stamp Set from Stampin' Up so that was my go to for that massive oval (which is almost as bad as a massive circle!).

I used some silver embossing powder, threw on some bling and I was good to go!  That pretty much never happens so I was impressed!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Silver Foil
Stamps: Modern Heart (SU), Essential Sentiments (MFT)
Ink: Versamark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Frosted Epoxy Drops, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the gorgeous cards the Design Team has created for your inspiration!

Have an amazing day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Dots

Hello!
Happy Tuesday!  Another day time post!  Very unusual here!  I have a sick little boy at home with me today.  Makes me sad.  Jacob was diagnosed with strep throat Monday morning.  He is a tough cookie so to see him completely wiped out is so sad.  He still hasn't perked up.  We are just waiting for these antibiotics to kick in.  Hopefully he'll be back to his energetic self tomorrow!

I had a few minutes to play in the craft room on the weekend - but only a few.  I had to play along with this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge!!  I loved the new sketch!  I really wish I had a snowman I could have used but I had to improvise!

I don't think you can ever have too many birthday cards on hand!  I had seen Mary Fish feature a card last week using the Rock 'n Roll technique which I haven't used in ages!  I decided I would use PTI's Dot Spot stamp set for this card and thought the Rock 'n Roll technique would be perfect!  I opted for a little Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink and away I went!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments, Dot Spot
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Other: Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back tomorrow morning with this week's Freshly Made Sketches post!  Super fun sketch this week so you won't want to miss it!!!

Have a great day!

Snowflake Day!

Hello!
A quick Sunday night post!  I had a few minutes (really, only a few minutes) to create a couple of cards this afternoon.  I had a vision in my mind of a card I wanted to create and decided to a couple in different colour combinations!  I think this maybe be "the card".  It's not exciting but it's simple and really, I'm a simple girl!

I started with the white background/red snowflake (below).  I must say, I do love a clean white background!  I moved onto the black and red after that!

I am not sure how I feel about brown and gold - though I must say they are usually my favourite colour combination!  I think it might be because I had to use pearls instead of jewels.

I finished with the blue and silver....I do love blue and silver as well!!!

These cards didn't take long to create which is the kind I like these days!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Midnight Muse, Early Espresso, Red Glimmer, Champagne Glimmer, Silver Foil
Ink: Versamark, Real Red
Stamps: Four the Holidays
Other:  Snowflake Punch, Silver Embossing Powder, Gold Embossing Powder, Basic Rhinestones, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a fabulous week!

Retro Christmas

Hello!
Are you ready for a new week?  We had a great day despite some cooler temperatures.  The boys headed out to the flying field after church this morning so I enjoyed a few hours by myself!  I even got a few cards done!

I decided to play along with this week's retro sketches challenge!  I love their sketches!  I hadn't played in a while and decided I would join in this week!

You are all probably sick of seeing cards with the Ornament Keepsake stamp set...I apologize!  I love this set and know some of you can't always be buying new stamp sets so sometimes you just have to make different cards using the stamps you've got!  I decided to keep the card simple and very white!  I added some cherry cobbler and ta-da!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
Stamps: Ornament Keepsake,  Four the Holidays
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
Other: Holiday Ornament Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #101

Hello!
Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a good week!  I spent the day shopping in NY on Monday and it was so fun.  What a fun group of girls!  I didn't buy too much but think I'll need to go back sometime soon!

Today brings us a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  The amazingly creative Linda Callahan is bringing us this week's super fun sketch!

I decided to go with a Christmas card this week.  I don't know why but somehow I feel like I need to get moving on those Christmas cards or I'll never get them done!!!  I think I just need to pick a simple design and go with it for everyone this year!  I do love the new DSP that SU came out with - though I'm really more a fan of traditional colours.

I opted not to get the new snowflake stamp set and dies though I think I may end up regretting that.  I kept the retired snowflake punch and decided to use that instead along with a few banners cut out using the Bitty Banners die!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Costal Cabana, Basic Grey, Silver Glimmer
DSP: Winter Frost Specialty
Stamps: Pennant Parade (Sentiment)
Ink: Costal Cabana
Other: Snowflake Punch, Bitty Banners Die, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous day!!1

Hope you have a chance to join us for this week's challenge!  We can't wait to see what you create!

CAS Thanksgiving (already?)

Hello!
Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you had a great weekend!  Trevor and I arrived safely in from Kauai, Hawaii on Friday afternoon.  We had the most amazing trip and I am so thankful that we were able to go away.  I am also so very thankful to my mom and dad for taking such amazingly great care of my boys while we were gone!  Caleb loved it so much he decided to stay with them another week!

I was able to make a few cards on Saturday while doing some jet lag recovery!  I tackled this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge first!  I missed playing with this challenge the last few weeks!

My pre-order arrived while we were gone so I was able to tear that open and have some fun!  I love fall'ish cards more than any other!  I couldn't wait to get going!  I do love the new Truly Grateful stamp set!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Truly Grateful
Ink: Early Espresso, Chocolate Chip
Other: Circle Punches, Twine, Dimensionals

Here's a shot of Trevor and I by the "Jurassic Park" waterfalls in Hawaii.  It was so beautiful here!

Hello CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge!

Hello!
I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend!  I have a husband who has been under the weather this weekend and he was really knocked out with this flu...chills, fever, the works!  Poor guy.  He seems to be doing a bit better now.  Not sure how the week will go!

I had a few minutes to craft in my workshop this afternoon and had to tackle a few card challenges!  I loved the sketch for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge!  I sure do love the clean and simple cards these days!

I decided to us some washi tape from the Epic Day journal kit.  I have never used it before and think I may be hooked.  It's so fun!  I opened up the new Costal Cabana ink for the flowers!  It's such a fun colour!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Whisper White
Stamps: Four You, Perfectly Preserved
Ink: Basic Grey, Costal Cabana
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Epic Day Washi tape, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I will be back tomorrow with another clean and simple card!

Have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge!

Hello!
It was a busy day!  I opted out of going to Caleb's soccer game tonight to go and get fruit for my fruit-eating monsters.  Jacob stayed home with me and it was nice to have my little friend for company!  Tomorrow is summer camp preparation. My friend and I are leading the scrapbooking/card making elective and need to figure out who is bringing what tools!  Should be fun!

Today brings us a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week the design team has created some beautiful cards using Cindy's fabulous sketch!  I strayed a little from the sketch and make a little panel inside the card.  Just wanted to keep the sketch very white and clean.
I'm in LOVE with the new Quatrefancy Specialty DSP!  You probably noticed from my earlier card that it used the same paper and same butterfly stamp!  I just couldn't help it!  That Strawberry Slush ribbon is fabulous!  I love how stretch it is!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White
DSP: Quatrefancy Specialty
Stamps: Six-Sided Sampler, Papillon Potpourri
Ink: Strawberry Slush
Other: Strawberry Slush Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals

Here are a few pictures from the Hamilton Air Show!  We had a great Saturday with some fabulous weather!  Both boys have decided their favourite plane is the Lancaster.  They were both really "touched" by the story of Andrew Mynarski and his flight during WWII.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the beautiful cards our fabulous design team has come up with!

Have a great day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge

Good Afternoon!
I don't usually post during the day but today's a bit of an exception!  I find that my evenings have been so busy lately.  I'm scrambling to get the Kindergarten scrapbooks ready for next Tuesday.  Everything is in now, I just need to finish the MDS layouts and get them printed and taped in.  Shouldn't take too long right?!

I had a few minutes last week to play along with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I couldn't miss two weeks in a row!!!  I loved this week's sketch!

I never have enough birthday cards...I need a re-stock!   I knew I needed to incorporate a butterfly on this card somehow!  I also love the new Strawberry Slush!  Such a fun colour!!!  I used the new Quatrefancy Specialty DSP - another one of my favourites!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Strawberry Slush
DSP: Quatrefancy Specialty
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Four You
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Pool Party
Other: Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Circle Punch,

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll be back again tomorrow with another card!!!

Have a great day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Wedding!

Hello!
Hope you're having a good start to your week!  It was a beautiful day here in Burlington today!  I was able to get a few cards made this past weekend.  I really am mourning the end of our youngest's nap time...that was my card making time.  I don't know what I'll do come summer when both boys are home!!!

I do love the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge.  I can't wait to check their blog each week to see what the newest sketch is!  I must say I gave this one a few tries before I decided on a card...sad sometimes!!!

I decided to go with a wedding card....I guess it could also be an anniversary card!  I saw a piece of that fabulous textured DSP (who's name escapes me) sticking out of my scraps bin and just wanted to use it!  Throw on a few rosettes and we were good to go!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla
DSP: SU...but can't remember...
Stamps: Petite Pairs
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Rosettes, Basic Pearls

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back again tomorrow!!!

Have a wonderful day!

CAS(E) Thinking of You!

Hello!
Happy Monday!  I totally have been out of the loop these last few weeks!  My husband went away for a week which left me with minimal stamping time!  Tomorrow we celebrate my oldest's 7th birthday!  I have no idea how it's possible that he can be 7 already!  We celebrated today with a pirate party for Caleb and 6 of his friends.  It was exhausting.  I'm thinking we will need to change things up a bit next year.

I really loved the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge this week.  I really wanted to play along.  I must apologize for the quality of my photo.  it's late and I had to use my phone...

As soon as I saw this sketch I thought French Foliage.  I think this stamp set has got to be my all time favourite set.  I just love it!  It doesn't help that my favourite season is fall so to me I can have fall all year round!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
Stamps: French Foliage, Apothecary Art
Ink: Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard
Other: Bitty Banners Framelits, 3/4" Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Here's a picture of my two pirates!  They were hilarious!!!!  The moustaches did not last long...sadly!  I thought for sure they'd love them!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a fabulous day!

Clean and Simple in Espresso!

Hello!
I hope you have had a great start to your week.  Jacob and I had a good day together!  He kept me highly amused during our game of Trouble!  I really loved being able to sit down and watch his little mind at work.

I wanted to try another card using a similar design to the ones I tried the other day.  I wanted to use early espresso and gold this time...not sure I love it as much as the first two I made.   It was still quick and helped me get one card closer to my Christmas card making goal!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Champagne Glimmer
Stamps: Four the Holidays, Ornament Keepsakes
Ink: Versamark
Other: Basic Pearls, Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Gold Embossing Powder, Holiday Ornament Framelits, Dimensionals

We started doing the Elf on the Shelf this year.  Jacob is totally into it.  Caleb is questioning how this really works and if it's true or not.  He's only 6!  I didn't think he'd question anything for another few years!!!  Anyhow, our elf (Fiddle Faddle) decided to take a roll down the stairs today...Jacob couldn't stop laughing!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!!
Have a fabulous day!!

Clean and Simple Christmas

Hello!
Just a quick little post tonight!  I have had a busy weekend and am feeling the effects!  I wanted to post some quickly and easy Christmas cards that I made the other day.  I needed something easier and faster than what I had been making.  I still have quite a few to make and I needed something that I could do quickly and make more one of!

I think I'll make a couple more up using different colours!  I think I may need a red and gold or maybe a early espresso and gold!!!

Supplies:
Black card:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Silver Glimmer
Stamps: Four the Holidays
Ink: Versamark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Dimensionals, Basic Rhinestone

White Card:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Red Glimmer
Stamps: Four the Holidays, Ornament Keepsakes
Ink: Real red
Other: Holiday Ornament Die, Basic Rhinestone, Dimensionals

Tonight after dinner we headed over to Hamilton to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train.  The boys were super excited!  The train was beautiful!  We didn't stay for the concert since it was so late but the boys were still in 7th Heaven!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Quint-essentially for you!

Hello!
Hope you had a great weekend and are ready to tackle the week!  I am looking forward to an exciting weekend - and the birthday of a very special little boy!!!

Today's card is for this week's Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  This week was a colour challenge and they picked some of my favourite colours!  Who doesn't love Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green?  Seriously?!  I'm in love!

I used the sketch from this week's Clean and Simple Cards challenge on Splitscoast Stampers since I thought it would work perfectly with the three colours!

I used the Quint-Essential Flower and then combined it with the new Hostess Set from the Holiday Catalogue - Mixed Medley!  I just love those little scalloped circles!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Whisper White
DSP: Midnight Muse DSP Pack
Stamps: Quint-Essential Flower, Mixed Medley
Ink: Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green
Other:  Daffodil Delight Ribbon, Dimensionals, Scalloped Circle Punches (2 3/8", 1 3/4" and 1 1/4"),  3/4 " Circle Punch, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder

Here's a picture of my littlest sweetheart setting up his train set!  He was so excited!  He couldn't wait for Daddy to get home to help him tear open the box.  Needless to say the train didn't fit on the dining room table so it ended up on my living room floor!

So Grateful

Hello!
Did you have a great day?  We had a good day!  The boys got some new binoculars so had to go around this morning investigating things!  Caleb still isn't feeling 100% yet so we're hoping for some improvements tomorrow...poor little guy!

I created a very clean and simple card this afternoon.  It's for two "challenges".  The first challenge is the Clean and Simple Cards challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.  I was so glad they had a sketch this week since I needed something to work from !  The second challenge is the Sunday Stamps Challenge. This week they had a colour challenge.  The colours chosen were Red Riding Hood, So Saffron and Soft Suede.

I really do love the French Foliage stamp set.  It's perfect for almost any type of card...versatility is paramount when ordering stamps!  I love fall cards and fall colours and thought these two challenges combined would be perfect!  I used the sentiment from Apothecary Art and then cut it out using the Bitty Banners Framelits Die!  I decided to mount vanilla on vanilla just to give it a little added dimension!

Here's a picture of my little spies!  They sure love being at Grannie and Papa's!  So much so that we've decided to spend next week here too!  Poor Grannie!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanila
Stamps: French Foliage, Apothecary Art
Ink: Soft Suede, Red Riding Hood So Saffron
Other: Bitty Banners Framelits Dies,  Basic Pearls, 3/4" Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

CAS Wedding

Hello!
The weekend is here!  I love the weekend though we do have a busy one ahead of us with a couple of birthday parties and of course Father's Day!
My husband will be enjoying a day to himself on Saturday as he goes to fly his airplanes with a few of his friends!

I was supposed to be making a father's day card this afternoon (which I eventually did make!) but first wanted to tackle the Clean and Simple (CAS) challenge on Splitcoast Stampers!  This week's challenge was to create a CAS card with a white layer on a white base.  I wanted to try out my "new to me" Love and Laughter stamp set.  It's not a new one in the catalogue but it did come in my most recent order!   Who doesn't love a good wedding stamp?!

I also really enjoy the Itty Bitty Banners and the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits!  I think I could use them on every card but I will honestly try not to!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper white, Glimmer Red and Silver
Stamps: Love and Laughter, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Versamark
Other: Dimensionals, Silver Embossing Powder, Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Bitty Banner Framelit Dies, Heart punch

Thanks for stopping by!

Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Stamps: Field Flowers, Petite Pairs
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade

Clean and Simple Birthday

Hello!
Sorry for not posting the last couple of days.  I haven't made it in the craft room to make cards!  I got a few loot bags made for my son's birthday yesterday and worked on some door hangers today so hopefully I will get some photos of those in the very near future!

This is a card I made a while ago - and then went back and changed it a bit!  It was for the Clean and Simple card challenge (CAS165) on Splitcoast Stampers a few weeks ago.  I don't know why I haven't posted it until now!

The challenge was to create a clean and simple card using scallops!  I hadn't used my pennant punch in a while and decided that it would be perfect to make a card with.  I need a few French cards so I thought I would make this one up using a French sentiment!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Basic Black, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
Stamps: Pennant Parade, Happiest Birthday Wishes (French version)
Other: Dimensionals, Basic Rhinestones

CAS-ual Baby

 Hello!
I hope your week has started out well!  I wasn't too impressed with the weather we had here in Southern Ontario - including some snow!  Thankfully it did not stay on the ground!   Looking forward to warmer weather towards the end of the week!

I had a friend deliver her baby last week at 29 weeks gestation.  Her little princess is a mere 1.9 lbs and has started the biggest fight of her life.  Her mom had an emergency c-section (due to pre-eclampsia) and is recovering but they are struggling to accept this new normal.  We have been praying for this dear family and their new little bundle!

I wanted to make a special card for them to let them know that we are thinking of them and praying for them but also congratulating them on this special arrival!

I used the CAS-ual Fridays sketch this week to come up with the idea for the card.  I had seen the cute dresses a few different places and thought they would be cute for the card!  They are made using the Owl belly from the 2-step Owl Builder Punch.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum
Stamps: Baby Bundle
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Basic Pearls, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon

Clean and Simple Birthday

Hello!
Today didn't start out too great but turned into a great day!  We enjoyed some beautiful sunshine today and the boys had a great time playing with the neighbours outside!

I was asked to make a card for a friend. I decided to use the Splitcoast Stampers "Clean and Simple" card challenge.  This week it was  "sketch" challenge and you can check out the gallery here!

I love the Open Sea (if you hadn't guessed) and love using it for those masculine cards.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
DSP: Nautical Expedition
Stamps: The Open Sea,  and a French one that I forget the name of!
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Other: Early Espresso Bakers Twine
