Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #281

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We've had some very nice spring weather here lately and all three of the boys in this house seem to have a case of spring fever!  Thankfully that means a lot of outside hockey and basketball games which means that everyone is getting lots of fresh air and exercise!

We have a great new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Kim Singdahlsen!  Kim is one amazing card maker!  She is uber creative and I love her cards!  Head over to her blog and you'll see exactly what I mean!

I had a lot of trouble with this sketch.  This is not the card I had in mind.  I wanted butterflies and greenery and bright, cheery colours.  Obviously that's not what I ended up with.  I am not happy with the end result.  This picture doesn't show the wavy lines in the background either.  The reason for that...I had a glue issue.  Honestly, I was a a tad on the discouraged side after this one!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams
Ink: Versamark
Other: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Copper Embossing Powder

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the cards the design team has created!  You won't be disappointed!

Have a fabulous day!

Jen

  3. It may not have turned out as you originally envisioned, but it's a beautiful card. I love the copper against the black -- so dramatic and eye-catching.

  4. Don't be discouraged, Jen! We are always so hard on ourselves. Your card is perfectly fine! The copper of the dragonfly looks amazing against the black and I really like the black on black stripey bits.

  5. I can definitely see the wavy lines in the background - glue issue aside! In fact I was going to say how much I love how they give subtle texture to the background and really show off that gorgeous dragonfly!

  6. I think your card looks great!!
At first I thought you embossed your background, but now looking closer I see it is adhered on...so cool.
I love how the gold embossing pops off of the black background

  8. Definitely not butterflies, greenery and bright cheerful colors!! But it really does work. The copper on black is so elegant and the wavy lines are subtle which keeps all the attention on the dragonfly!

  9. Some days are just like that in the craft room. I seem to have had more than my share of them lately. While your final card is not what you had in mind, it really is pretty. The copper on black is striking!
