Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #593

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you are having a fantastic start to your week!  My youngest and I are heading off on an adventure today!  We're flying to see my parents and attend my cousin's wedding in Ontario!  I've actually been able to see my parents a few times already this year which has been wonderful!  I'm super excited to visit them during the summer.  Though I might not be looking forward to the humidity!

We've got a fantastic new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite New Zealander, Karren Johnson!  Karren's such a creative stamper and is the queen of hot foiling!  She's one of the reasons I'm broke!!!
I needed a card for my Father-in-law's birthday - which was yesterday.  Karren's sketch was perfect!  I used the amazing Adventure Awaits paper pad from Honey Bee Stamps with the coordinating Pinstripes and Polka Dots: Outdoors.  I threw on some evergreens and called it a day!  I struggled with the sentiment and I'm still not sold on it but it's what worked!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Shaded Spruce, Certainly Celery, Basic White (SU)
Patterned Paper: Adventure Awaits, Pinstripes & Polkadots: Outdoors (Honey Bee Stamps)
Other: Evergreens Dies (Taylored Expressions), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Silver Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders), Tasteful Labels Dies (SU)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Please be sure to head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge.  The girls on the Design Team have created some gorgeous cards that will definitely inspire you!

I thought I'd share a few photos of one of our more recent adventures!  We did two hikes this weekend.  I'll share the second one next week!  We hiked at Cory Pass.  It's a beautiful area that passes between Mount Cory and Mount Edith!  I wasn't sure what to expect but it far exceeded my expectations.  It was such a beautiful area!  I loved it and we had the whole area to ourselves!

I hope you have the most amazing week!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #556

Happy Wednesday!
I hope you're having a great start to the week!  We've been having the most beautiful weather here!  Last year about this time it was much cooler and we had snow on Thanksgiving weekend.  We've had beautiful sunshine and and warm temperatures and we will totally take it all in!  The warm weather has lengthened our hiking season which is amazing!  We did an incredible one last weekend.  We hiked up Mount Sparrowhawk which was our first 10,000 footer!  It was a grind but oh so amazing!  Check out the view below!

We've got a fantastic sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our colour guru Amy O'Neill!  Amy's cards are always so pretty!  Head over to her blog to check out her creativity!

If I said this was my first rendition of this sketch, I would totally be lying.  Same if I said it was the second or third rendition!  Seriously, this one almost did me in!  Honestly.  Sometimes the mojo just isn't flowing!

I had this bear sitting on my desk and I happen to love a sweet grizzly so I knew I would have to make a card around him!  I had this fall paper still sitting out and decided I wanted to use it up while it was still fall!  Voila!  Card is made!  It's definitely not my favourite but I wanted a more masculine card!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Basic White
Paper: Plaid Fever (Echo Park)
Stamps: Little Birthday Notes (MFT)
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Woodland Silhouettes 2 (Taylored Expressions), Pine Woods Dies (SU), Double Stitched Circles (Lil Inkers), Tasteful Label Dies, Dimensionals

We met a couple of people on the summit - all previously from Ontario who offered to take our picture!  So nice to have a pic that isn't a selfie!

The incredible view from the top!

Sometimes you encounter wild animals!  These are mountain sheep.  They are generally easy going - if they're female but these moms had babies with them.  We kept our distance but the herd was blocking the trail so we had to bang our hiking poles together to get them to move along!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you will head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in this week's challenge!  We always love seeing the amazing cards that get entered in the challenge each week!  We definitely have a creative group that participates!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #539

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We've had a bit of rain over the last couple of days and we're so thankful.  I have never lived anywhere that went this long without rain.  Everything looks so green and happy now!  If it could just warm up a bit it would be wonderful!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Jennifer Timko!  Jen's card are gorgeous and I'm always wow'd by her creativity!  Head over to her blog and check them out!

So I flipped this sketch around a bit since my bear die was pointed the other way!  I'm pretty sure that's okay!  I'm not totally thrilled with this card but I totally lack creativity and supplies when it comes to making masculine cards (especially Father's Day cards)!  I think I need to focus on that a bit more!  Push myself out of the floral/feminine card design!

I've always made this bear out of black cardstock before but now I know this guy is a grizzly (note the hump behind his shoulders) so he's now brown!  Yes, grizzlies can be really dark or really light but this guy is just brown!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Shaded Spruce, Garden Green
DSP: Peaceful Prints (retired)
Stamps: Handsomely Suited
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Bear Die (Taylored Expressions), Pine Woods Dies, Evergreens (Taylored Expressions), Tasteful Labels Dies

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and take a peek!  We also hope you'll join in our challenge this week!  The Design Team has got some beautiful cards to inspire you!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #531

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a fantastic week!  We had a gorgeous week last week and today we woke up to snow!  It was so cold here this morning.  I can't believe the shift in the weather.  We've heard that April is crazy windy here and so far it's living up to what we've heard.  I've never experienced wind quite like this before!  Apparently is has something to do with the snow in the mountains but I didn't quite understand the explanation!  Anyhow, it's supposed to warm up next week and for that I will be thankful!

We have a fabulous new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches courtesy of the hilarious and super creative Linda Callahan!  Linda and her cards always make me smile so head over to her blog to check them out!

Linda and I also had the same idea with our cards this week!  We both chose flowers!  I hadn't checked the blog before I posted my card and giggled when I saw Linda's card and how similar mine is to hers!  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this card but then decided that I would pull out my Whimsical Spring Flowers Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps and go from there!

I started with the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP and then chose my colours after I chose the patterned paper I wanted to use!  I still feel like something is missing off this card but I can't put my finger on it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Misty Moonlight, So Saffron, Granny Apple Green
DSP: Sunshine & Rainbows 6X6 DSP Pack
Stamps: Itty Bitty Birthdays
Ink: Midnight Muse
Other: Elegant Sequin Mix (Honey Bee Stamps), Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Whimsical Spring Flowers Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Tasteful Labels Dies, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The Design Team has some amazing examples up for you to inspire your creativity this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #484

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!  We are counting down the days here until my husband leaves to take possession of our new house out in Western Canada.  Seems crazy that the last few months have gone by so fast.  This week is going to fly by as well.  My husband needs to take enough stuff for the 4 of us to live with for about 6 days once we get there as well!  We will be arriving before the moving truck so we will need some things to live with!  It will be an adventure to say the least!

We have a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess this week is one of our favourite Texan card makers - Amy O'Neill!  Amy creates the sweetest cards so you should go and check them out on her blog!

I must admit this one stumped me.  I think it was because I was crunched for time and had something in mind and could not replicate it.  I haven't created an all white card in a while and wanted to give it a shot.  It's very simple but that's what I wanted!  The Pierced Blooms made another appearance!  I used an aqua painter splatter a little ink in the background.  I should have probably picked a different colour but I wanted it subtle.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Silver Foil
Ink: Basic Black
Stamps: Itty Bitty Birthdays
Other: Pierced Blooms Dies, Stitched Rectangles (Lil' Inkers), Tasteful Label Dies, Silver Epoxy Essentials, Aqua Painter

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I do hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and be inspired by the cards the Design Team have created!  We also hope you'll join in our challenge this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #469

Hello!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a good week!  I feel like Valentine's Day is just around the corner so I'm trying to get some Valentine's Day cards made so I'm not scrambling at the last minute!  Great intentions, not sure about great follow through though!  We shall see!  I usually decorate a bit and should probably do that before it's February 13th!  It's not like there's much else going on around here!!!

We have a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess is the amazing Kim Singdahlsen.  Kim's cards are always fabulous and you need to head over to her blog and check them out!

I decided to use my new Lots of Hearts Stamp set and the Many Hearts dies for this card.  Of course I needed to tie in the FREE Flower and Field DSP!  Honestly, this paper pack might just be my favourite ever.  It makes me smile!  I also used the FREE Oh So Ombre paper as the background.  I just love that fading colour!

I decided to add some thread around the edge of the heart.  It's just embroidery floss and took a VERY long time to stitch.  I couldn't get the floss through the needle and so I was frustrated!  Needless to say, I might not make too many versions of this card!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

DSP: Flower and Field, Oh So Ombre

Stamps: Lots of Hearts

Ink: Basic Black

Other: Many Hearts Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Embroidery Floss, Dimensionals

Thanks again for stopping by!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the other cards!

We hope you'll join in our challenge this week!

Have a wonderful day!

Jen

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #467

Hello!

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!  I know we're all hoping that 2021 goes a little smoother than 2020 did!  Hopefully there aren't any big surprises in store for us!  Did you get any new crafting supplies for Christmas that you've been having fun playing with?  I was blessed with the Pierced Blooms dies and have been having a blast with those!!  Any excuse to spend more time in my craft cave!

We have a great new sketch this at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess is the amazing Jen Mitchell!  Jen creates elegantly clean and simple cards that are always gorgeous!  Head over to her blog and check them out!

I always find slimline cards a bit challenging but being challenged is good right?  I might have struggled with this one as well because I kept trying to put the flowers on a white background.  I remembered my favourite DSP (Tasteful Textures) and found some wood paper that worked perfectly!  Finding the perfect flower colour combination was also a struggle!  I decided to cut out tons of flowers in a rainbow of colours!  Maybe too many choices wasn't a good thing!  I decided on white and purple as you can see!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black,  Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Silver Foil

DSP: In Good Taste

Stamps: Handsomely Suited

Other: Pierced Blooms Dies, Tasteful Labels Dies, Silver Thread, Matte Black Dots

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog!  The Design Team has created a bunch of gorgeous cards!  You don't want to miss out on being inspired!

Have an amazing day!
