Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #108

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe it's Wednesday!  Having Thanksgiving on Monday has sure made everything go by quickly!  We're still stuffed from turkey and the trimmings but it was a wonderful weekend and we enjoyed having quiet family time together!

Today brings us a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Narelle Farrugia brings us this week's fabulous sketch!  Narelle creates the most beautiful layered cards!  Head over to her blog to be wowed!

I'll be honest that this card isn't exactly the one I wanted to make for this sketch BUT I needed a Halloween birthday card for a customer order.  This is such a great sketch and I could think of a ton of different cards I wanted to make (I just didn't have a lot of extra time!).

I had been holding onto some of my old SU Halloween DSP and was super exited to get it out!  Call me a bit of a hoarder!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry
DSP: Wicked Fun
Stamps: Googly Ghouls, Create a Cupcake (Sentiment)
Ink: Stazon
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Rich Razzleberry Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals

I took some family photos over the weekend.  I try and do it every fall...it was more challenging than I thought it would be!  The boys really did not want to cooperate!  Oh well...boys will be boys!!!!

Thanks for stopping in today!  I hope you'll scoot on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the fabulous cards the design team has come up with!

Have a fabulous day!

Thankful!

Hello!
I hope you've had a great weekend!  I managed to get a few minutes in my craft room this afternoon (and really, it was only a few minutes!) so that was nice!  The boys had a busy day and were pretty tired by the time they were tucked in bed!  Tomorrow I'm heading to Niagara Falls NY shopping with some friends.  I don't really have anything I'm desperate to get but I am not turning down a day away!!!  My hubby will be staying home with the boys tomorrow.  I have heard there's a trip to the train store involved!!!

I decided to create a card for this week's Create with Connie and Mary challenge.  I really love sketch challenges and had a vision for this challenge!!!  Sometimes visions work and sometimes they don't.  I started out with the Halloween card at the bottom and it didn't really work!!!

I love fall cards - probably too much so.  I hope I remember to send my cards out this year!!!   I used the French Foliage stamp set for this card.  I know it's retired but I do truly love it.  I combined it with the sentiment from the Truly Grateful set.

Supplies: (Top card):
Cardstock: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Stamps: French Foliage, Truly Grateful
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
Other: Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals, Bronze Button, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Woodgrain Embossing Folder

Supplies: (Bottom Card)
Cardstock: Basic Black
DSP: Retired Halloween paper from last year....I forgot the name...sadly.
Stamps: Googly Ghouls, Mixed Medley
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Daisies #2 Die, Scalloped Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a great week!

Dynamic Duos Halloween

Hello!
Thanksgiving weekend is over here in Canada.  I am stuffed full of turkey, turnips and pumpkin pie!  We had a delicious dinner on Saturday night and have eaten leftovers ever since!  I'm so sad that we will now have to wait until Christmas to have more!

I did a card up for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge.   This week's colour combination is Tangerine Tango and Old Olive.  When I see these colours I immediately think to Halloween.  I didn't want to do a traditional Halloween card though.  I have been wanting to try out paper rosettes!  I used the First Edition paper for this since it still happened to be sitting on my craft table!!!  Add in some ruffled satin ribbon, a few bats and voila!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Old Olive
DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone, First Edition
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Ink: Basic Black, Old Olive
Other: Bitty Banners Framelits, Black Satin Ribbon, Old Olive Button, Circle Punch, Thread, Chevron Embossing Folder, Glue Gun, Dimensionals

I decided to take some family pictures this week!  Thankfully everyone stayed still long enough to get this shot!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great Monday!

Witch's Hat

Hello!
We survived another day!  I just got in from bootcamp and I'm feeling the burn!  I'm in "training" to do the CN Tower Climb for the United Way.  My goal is to beat my husband...not sure it's going to happen but I'll give it my best shot!

I was going through some of my favourite blogs the other day and came across this great project over on Penny Thomas' blog (Penguin Stamper).  You can see her blog here.   I've mentioned before that I'm not a big Halloween fan but my neighbour Owen is getting me into it!  I saw this cute hat made from the Petal Cone Die and decided to give it a try.  It's super "easy" to do once you get it all figured out (I embossed the first piece backwards so had to do it over again!).  I found cutting the paper a bit tricky but there are dimensions listed on Penny's blog!  I decided to use the scallop circle punches and the Mixed Medley spider web stamp to top it all off!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Silver Glimmer
DSP: I totally forget what it's called..it was out of it's wrapper and in my scraps!  Help me out!
Stamps: Mixed Medley
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Spider Web Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestone, Large Scallop Die, Scallop Circle Punches, Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!

Dynamic Duos Halloween

Hello!
How did it get to be Monday already?!  The weekend went by way too fast!  I have decided to start running again...my body is protesting significantly.  My age is starting to show I think!!!

Okay so today's card is for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge!  This week's colours are Lucky Limeade and Basic Black with a dessert option of a Halloween theme!  I am not a big fan of Halloween cards but need a few to send to my boys...or leave at the breakfast table!!!  I really do love the Googly Ghouls stamp set.  Those little ghouls are so cute - especially once you add those googly eyes!   I embossed the card after I glued the lucky limeade and basic black pieces on the card.  I love embossing way too much!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Lucky Limeade
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Chevron Textured Embossing Folder, Lucky Limade Brads, Bitty Banners Framelites, Circle Punch, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Googly Eyes, Dimensionals

Here's the little wall hanging I made for my neighbour Owen.  It is totally from Pinterest...check out the link here!

Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary Freshly Made Sketches!

Hello!  Today is a very special day!  Not only is it Wednesday (and we're halfway through the week!) but it's also the first anniversary for Freshly Made Sketches!  I am so honoured to be a part of this special day!

This week you get to choose any of our past sketches for your card!  Check out the past sketches here!  So head on over to the blog, check out those fabulous Design Team creations and get yourself started!  We've had some fabulous entries the last few weeks!  Sure makes the Design Team's job of picking a winner super hard.

I decided to work with Sketch #26 since I really wanted to use my snowflake die!

I wanted to do more traditional colours for this card so stuck with the Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla!  Oh, I also used the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations!  I had the Early Espresso and loved it...how could I not get the Cherry Cobbler too?!

DSP: Be of Good Cheer
Stamps: Petite Pairs
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Other: Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Basic Pearls, Snow Burst Textured Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, Sanding Block

Okay so I didn't just make one card....I actually made this Halloween one first but I didn't like it.  Caleb has decided that he does like this card and wants me to send it to him for Halloween!  I'm glad I have him around to make me feel better!!!

I really do like the Googly Ghouls stamp set!  They are really cute little Halloween "monsters"!

Sour Cream Treat Containers

Hello!  The weekend is over.  How does it fly by so quickly?  This week will be a busy one.  I have a routine follow up appointment at the cancer centre tomorrow morning.  I have the privilege of taking Jacob with me!  This should be interesting!!!  He's not one for staying in one place for very long!

Today's card...well, it isn't a card!  It's a "box"?  Maybe a package!  I have always wanted to try a sour cream container!  I made this one for the SUO challenge!  This week's challenge was to create a box or bag.  I kinda think this is a little of both!  I can't believe how super easy these little cuties are!  Take a look at Heather Summer's video here and you'll be amazed!  I crimped the ends for an added look.  I wanted to use the Mixed Medley set since it was so cute for Halloween!  I might just make these for Caleb's class this year!!!  Though I had better get my act together!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone
Stamps: Mixed Medley
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Other: Silver Brad, 1 1/4" Scalloped Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle punch, Black Satin Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day!

BOO!

Hello!
How is your weekend going?  We've had a busy weekend so far!  My parents stopped in for a quick visit so we can celebrate Jacob's birthday a few days early.  We had a blast.  Another visit to the train station!  This is the world's greatest free entertainment for my boys!!!  They love watching the trains go by.

I got a Stampin' Up! order in the mail yesterday and finally got my hands on the Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP and the Googly Ghouls stamp set!  How could I not use it?!  I needed a sketch to start with though as I was feeling a tad uncreative today...I think a loss of Mojo is going around.  I checked out the new sketch from Retro Sketches.   I thought it would work perfectly.  My little Frankenstein has been embossed with black embossing powder...he needed a little something extra!  I purchased the Googly Ghouls bundle and love the little self adhesive googly eyes!  They are so cute!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
DSP: Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Ink: Basic Black, Versamark
Other: Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Black Button, Googly Eyes, Bitty Banners Framelits, Dimensionals, Black Embossing Folder

Here's a picture of my family (minus my husband who was taking the picture!) at the train station!  The boys were so excited to see the arrival of the Amtrak train!  The conductor was kind of enough to toot the horn for my super excited little boys!  They were in train heaven!

 Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
