Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #691

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  I've spent a lot of time in the mountains since last week and it was so amazing.  The wildflowers are blooming and the views are amazing.  I won't even mention how good it smells!  My favourite time of year!  I always find it amazing that so many beautiful flowers can grow in such a harsh environment!

We have a brand new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is one of our newest team members, Michele Ferguson!  Michele makes absolutely stunning cards so you'll want to head over to her blog to check them out!
I have wildflowers and other spring flowers on the brain and this one reminded me a bit of an Alberta Wild Rose.  I thought it would be perfect for this card!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock
Stamps: Special Moments (SU)
Ink: Detail Black (Pink Fresh Studios), Distress Oxides
Dies: Woodland Tales Floral (Spellbinders), Stitched So Sweetly (SU)
Other: Iridescent Rhinestones (SU), Subtle Texture Embossing Folder

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week.  We always love to see the amazing cards that you all come up with!

I thought I'd share some photos from our hike on Saturday.  With the G7 Summit taking place our hiking trails are a little limited as they have a big area shut down but we found the perfect location and tackled two peaks - Belmore Browne and Boundary!

If you're wondering where the G7 is being held - basically it's at the bottom of those ski runs!

I hope you have a wonderful week!
Remember, if you want to enter a card in our challenge this week, you have until Monday at 1 PM.

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #682

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We had a mix of snow and rain today which was just a reminder that winter isn't quite finished yet!  Though my husband took the winter tires off of my car today so we shall see what happens!!  I won't hold my breath but the forecast is looking more positive!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite airline captain, Jennifer Timko!  Jen's cards will make you envious (but in the best way) so head over to her blog and give her some love!
I really loved Jen's sketch this week!  I also really love the DSP from Stampin Up!  I paired it all with the Lovely Layer Daisies from Honey Bee Stamps and we were off to the races!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party (SU)
DSP: Floral Delight
Ink: Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs (Distress Oxides)
Dies: Lovely Layers Coneflower (Honey Bee Stamps), Bitty Buzzwords Honeycuts (Honey Bee Stamps)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week!  If you need any inspiration at all, you'll find it on the blog! You have until Monday at 1 PM EST to get your card entered into this week's challenge!

Trevor and I tackled our first bigger hike of the season.  There is still avalanche risk in most areas but this area thankfully didn't have any risk.  There was still a bit of snow at the top but it wasn't too bad.  What it did have was ticks.  I have found 3 in our bathroom since we've been home.  I'm not too impressed.  It was a lovely day to get out and get some exercise and fresh air.

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #645

Hello! Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  Summer has hit hard here!  We are having some crazy heat (which I won't complain about) but our wildfire danger has gone from nothing to extreme in just a few days!  My son works in the maintenance department of our local golf club and he's been roasting!  Looks like at least 2 more weeks of extreme heat for us!  I will remember that I prefer extreme heat to -40!!!

We've got a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today!  I have the privilege of being this week's hostess!  I always find it challenging to create a sketch.  My brain just doesn't like to work that way.  I actually made this sketch with this card in mind!  I wanted to use these dies so I worked my sketch around it.  That's not cheating is it?

I love flower dies so when Spellbinders released these I knew I had to have them!  I love the Be Bold Blooms and these new Floral Spray dies are no exception!  The more flowers the merrier!  I think these might be a tad bit easier to work with as well!  I needed a couple of thank you cards and these turned out just how I imagined!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock, Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Elegant Eggplant, Granny Apple Green, Gumball Green
Dies: Floral Spray (Spellbinders), Be Bold Blooms (Spellbinders), Bitty Buzzwords Honeycuts (Honey Bee Stamps)

I hope you'll join in our challenge this week so please head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the details and find some inspiration!  You have until Monday at 1 PM EST to get your card entered into this week's challenge!  I cannot wait to see what you create!

Here are a few pictures from our hike on Saturday!  This is the Mount Burke Fire Lookout.  It's no longer used and is in pretty rough shape but it was a beautiful, hot day for a hike!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #625

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Here we are back at another Wednesday!  How is that even possible!  I hope you're having a good week!  I had my steroid shot this morning and I'm praying for some significant relief in my pain!  Some of you know but I have been diagnosed with moderate arthritis in my left thumb (I also have it in my right thumb) but I'm left handed so most tasks have become very difficult.  I have been waiting for this shot for months so I'm excited that today is the day!  Tonight is also a big ladies paint night at our church.  It's my first event as Women's Ministry Coordinator so I'm a little nervous! We have 100 ladies coming to paint!  I will be heading from my shot to the church for set up!  As excited as I am, I'm looking forward to it all being over.

So I have the privilege of being this week's hostess at Freshly Made Sketches!  I am not great at coming up with sketches but I sure love to see what you all create with my sketch!

I had just received these SU dies.  I saw them in the catalogue and one of my new friends is a demonstrator so I decided I would get them from her!  I love a good flower die!  These ones are user friendly and fun to play with!  I cut the flowers out of white and then used my Distress Oxides to colour them!  I wasn't going to make this a Mother's Day card but it looked pretty Mother's Day like to me so that's what it became!

I need a thank you card for the lady that is leading/teaching our paint night tonight.  She really likes purple so I made one especially for her!  I've added Wink of Stella to the centres of all of the flowers just to add a bit of sparkle!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock, Blushing Bride, Highland Heather, Basic Black
DSP: Gingham Gala (retired SU), Gingham Happy Hearts (Honey Bee Stamps)
Ink: Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness (Distress Oxides)
Other: Paper Florist Dies (SU), Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder, Nested Essential Dies (SU), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Happy Parents Day (Spellbinders) Rose Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Purple Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders), Wink of Stella

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  You have until 3 PM EST on Monday to enter our challenge!  We always love to see what you come up with!  If you need some inspiration, head over to the blog!  You'll find some amazing cards already posted by the Design Team!

Have a fantastic day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #595

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  I am back from a week in Ontario with my family!  It was such an amazing visit.  We had so much fun with my parents and I was able to see many of my aunts and uncles at a family wedding.  The groom wore a pink tux.  My youngest son (who's almost 15) thought the tux was perfect in pink!  The other's weren't so convinced but I thought pink was a fun choice - how different is pink from the powder blue of the 70's?

We've got a fantastic new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our favourite Texan, Amy O'Neill is hosting and she has come up with a great sketch for us to play with!  Amy makes amazing cards and is always sending the cutest ones to her kids so please head over to her blog to check them out!

I struggled with this sketch to start with.  I haven't felt very creative lately at all.  I don't know if it's because it's summer and I'm out of routine, just want to be outside or that I feel very tired by the end of the day and don't feel like crafting.  Summer always gets me out of whack.

My mom blessed me with the Spellbinders Holiday Blooms die set when I was at her house visiting.  I love all blooms and there are many parts of this die set that would work perfectly on a non-Christmas card so I grabbed it and my Be Bold Blooms and started crafting.  Of course I started with colours and gave up and opted for white and gold.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White (SU), Gold (SU)
Other: Holiday Blooms Dies (Spellbinders), Be Bold Blooms (Spellbinders), Be Bold Sentiments (Spellbinders), Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders)

I thought I'd include some recent hike photos.  We did this one on Sunday!  Trevor let me have 24 hours to acclimate back to elevation and then we headed out on a smaller hike just in case I was sucking wind!  I wasn't!  It was actually really good!  We hiked at Little Arethusa and Arethusa Cirque.  The day before had been super smoky but we were blessed with clearer skies and the perfect temperature.  It was a little chilly to start but we were hot and sweaty by the end.  We also ended up with a windless and person-less summit!  Two of my favourite things!  We also had a marmot on the summit with us.  If you don't know what a marmot is they're like an alpine groundhog.  This particular creature was a little too curious and I was afraid it was going to bite me so we opted to let it have the summit and we headed back down!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll join in our challenge this week!  Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to get the details and see some of the design team inspiration!  We'd love to see what you come up with this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #540

Happy Wednesday!
Hope you're having a wonderful week!  We're having a super wet week!  This is apparently rainy season/snow melt season!  The mountains are losing their snow and it's creating rain and crazy wind!  We've received sooo much rain in the last 72 hours!  We need the rain desperately - but spreading it out seemed like a better idea to me!  Some areas in the mountains actually got 70 mm of rain and 48 cm of snow the other day!  Ummm...no thanks!  We will do our best to stay warm and dry here!

We have a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our lovely hostess if the amazing "queen of elegantly simple cards" Jen Mitchell!  Jen's cards are always so eye catching!  Head over to her blog and check them out!

I had a few ideas for Jen's sketch and started with a masculine card - since I'm in need of some.  Turns out I wasn't too sold on it so I went for an all white (with a pop of yellow) flower card!  That coneflower die was just calling my name!  I couldn't ignore it!

I threw on the flag banner as well because it just happened to be sitting beside the stitched rectangle dies.  It also called my name and I felt obligated to cut one out and stick it on!  I had a hard time getting a good photo of the card.  It's been so dark here and the white just didn't show up as nicely as it looks in person!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Gold Foil, Daffodil Delight
Stamps: Honey Bee
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Lovely Layers - Coneflower Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps),  Double Garland Confetti Cut (Reverse Confetti), Sequins (Taylored Expressions)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I do hope you'll check out the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week and join us!  We always love to see what everyone creates!  If you head over to the blog you'll see what the Design Team has come up with to inspire you!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #510

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  It's been super cold here and we even had some snow on the ground!  Thankfully it's mostly melted.  I am hoping it stays that way for a while!  I am excited to head to the mountains on the weekend though!  There will definitely be a ton of snow there - and that's okay!!!  I'm soon going to be getting some snowshoes and I can't wait to get out and use them!

Wednesdays mean another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Jen Mitchell!  Jen's cards are always amazing and she creates the most beautifully simple and yet elegant cards!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

So I need some thank you cards!  I recently received a promotion from Norwex (I'm a consultant with them) and need so send some big thank you notes to my team for helping me out this month!  I couldn't have done it without them!  They're all in Ontario so fall cards still seem appropriate!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Bumblebee, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Basic White, Brushed Metal

DSP: Harvest Meadow

Stamps: Nature's Harvest

Ink: Basic Black

Other: Harvest Dies, Sequins, Double Stitched Circles, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out all the beautiful cards the Design Team has created!  We do hope you'll join in our little change this week!  We'd love to see what you create!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #508

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  At least I managed to get this up while it was still Wednesday.  Unlike last week when I forgot to do my post, last night I actually didn't get a chance to do it.  It's been crazy busy here and I can't wait for a bit of a calmer week next week!

We have a fabulous new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the super creative Jacquie Southas!  Jacquie makes such a amazing cards each and every week.  Head over to her blog to check them out!

So this card might look vaguely familiar to you.  I made one quite similar last year.  A friend asked for a card for Pastor's Appreciation Month and I thought I'd do a re-do of my card from last year!  I don't think you can ever go wrong with leaf dies!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Bumblebee, Crumb Cake
Stamps: Beautiful Autumn
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Seasonal Layers Dies, Sunflower Dies, Timber 3D Embossing Folder, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Copper Thread, Copper Sequins, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the Design Team's cards.

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #478

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a fabulous week!  We have been having the most amazing spring weather.  It's been warm and sunny!  My husband and I just got home from a very whirlwind trip out to Calgary (Alberta) to finalize a house purchase.  We take possession of our new home in May and move everyone out there in July.  Should be interesting moving two cats out there!!!

We have an amazing new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Our hostess this week is the amazing Captain Jen Timko!  Yup, she's now a captain AND she's the best Captain that United has!  Or at least that's my opinion!!!  I can't wait to one day get on a plane that she is captaining!

So thankfully I knew kinda what I wanted to do as soon as I saw this sketch!!  I had someone ask me for a springy looking thank you card.  I also want to send one to the family that lives in the house we bought!   We had our inspection last Friday and they had to leave the house for about 4 hours.  I wanted to just thank them for being so accommodating!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green

DSP: Brights DSP Paper Pack

Other: Pierced Blooms Dies, Thank You die (Taylored Expressions), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Dimenaionsl

Thanks again for stopping by today.  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to checkout the Design Team's creations!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #468

Hello!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We have a brand new Stay At Home order and State of Emergency here in Ontario.  It's a little murky as to what we can and cannot do.  Let's just say that I don't leave the house much these days except to get groceries and go for a walk.  I guess it's a good thing I like my house!!  More crafting time?!  I think I should take advantage of it. It's a good thing it's winter and there isn't really anywhere I want to go!

We have a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Linda Callahan!  Linda creates such beautiful cards.  I always love them!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

So I hadn't noticed that the sentiment was supposed to be at the bottom of my card.  I don't know how that happened.  I obviously cannot copy things down properly and so my sentiment is in the wrong spot!  I absolutely LOVE the FREE Flower and Field paper from Stampin' Up!  It's FREE as part of our Sale-a-bration sale!  For every $60 CAD before taxes, you get to pick a free product!  These flowers are so sweet! I also think they pair perfectly with my Pierced Blooms dies!

Supplies:

Cardstock: Whisper White, So Saffron, Petal Pink, Basic Black, Just Jade

DSP: Flower and Field

Stamps: Peaceful Moments

Ink: Basic Black

Other: Pierced Blooms Dies, Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

I hope you'll head over to to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The Design Team has created some amazing cards that will definitely inspire you!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #398

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a fantastic week so far!  We are finally done camps and it's a week of relaxing and adventures at our house.  The boys are a little bored but that's okay. Being bored is good for them!  They'll figure out some stuff to do.  We have made a few trips to the library and Jacob has loaded up on space encyclopedias.  He's obsessed with space.  It's amazing how much information kids can cram into their brains!  I only wish I could still remember that much info!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches courtesy of our French designer Cecile Ribon!  Cecile's cards are so gorgeous, her die cut collection is to "die" for and she is super creative.

I had received this Modern Heart stamp set from Stampin' Up last week and decided that it would be perfect for this sketch!  I decided to use some ink that I haven't used before so grabbed the Gorgeous Grape and I was off to the races.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White
Stamps: Modern Heart
Ink: Versamark, Gorgeous Grape
Other: Gold Embossing Powder, Sequins, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out the amazing cards the Designers have created to inspire you!

Have an amazing week!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #397

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We had our church kids camp last week.  It was the most amazing week ever.  It was the most tiring week ever but wow, was it fun.  850  kids, 350 workers and a whole lot of smiles!  Can't wait for next year!

We have a brand new and fantastic sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the lovely Kim Singdahlsen.  Kim creates such gorgeous cards and I'm always taking note of what supplies she's using and building a wish list!  Maybe don't tell my husband that!!!

Kim's sketch was a little tricky until I realized I had these poppies (uncoloured) sitting on my desk from another card attempt!  I decided instead of colouring them red, I would colour them yellow instead!  For today, they're yellow poppies!

I must say the Stampin' Blends did great and I was able to combine 4 markers instead of just the normal 2!  I believe this was Daffodil Delight and Mango Medley but I could be very wrong!  It may be So Saffron and Mango Medley!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whipser White, Basic Grey
DSP: Brights 6X6 DSP Stack
Stamps: LJD Delicate Pretty Poppies (MFT)
Ink: Memento, Versamark
Other: LJD Pretty Poppies Dies (MFT), Stampin' Blends, Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder, Stitched Flags

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the gorgeous cards the Design Team has created for your inspiration!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #376

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe we're already at Wednesday!  We had a Family Day holiday here in Canada on Monday so starting the week on Tuesday always throws me off!  At least we're already half way to Friday!!!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is one of our extremely talented designers from Down Under - Karren Johnson!  Karren is a colouring genius!  I would love to sit and learn her colouring tricks some time!

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this sketch but then saw my In Flight Cutting plate from Taylored Expressions and knew I had to do butterflies!!!  I used the In Flight Overlays to cut out butterflies to glue on top!  I used some Hello Sunshine patterned paper and a thanks die to top things off!  I also used some white glitter cardstock under the butterflies so some sparkle would shine through!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, White Glitter, Blue Glitter (all SU)
Patterned Paper: Hello Sunshine (Taylored Expressions)
Other: In Flight Cutting Plate and Overylays (Taylored Expressions) Thank you die (Taylored Expressions), Snow Flurries Sequins (Taylored Expressions), Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out the amazing cards the Design Team has created!  You will definitely be inspired!

Freshly Made Sketches #361

Happy Wednesday and Happy Halloween!
I hope you're having a great week so far.  I'm fighting a nasty cold and will probably be the one staying in handing out candy tonight unless I feel better.  I don't often get sick but when I do I tend to be very grouchy!  The kids are excited about tonight.  Jacob is being the Black Panther and Caleb is being a giant hotdog.  Hilarious!  I'm hoping we get lots of kids so that I can get rid of all of that candy that I have!!  None left for me to eat!

We have a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Jen Mitchell!  Jen is the queen of elegant/clean and simple!  Her cards are gorgeous so head over to her blog and check it out!

Okay, so I definitely messed this sketch up!  I made this card a while ago and apparently was dreaming when I saw the sketch and then made my card.  I'm a little off.  I don't know what I was thinking!

My mom gave me Tropical Chic for my birthday and I just LOVE it!!  Such a fun set!  With this set you can totally make the most colourful cards!!  It's fantastic!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black
Stamps: Tropical Chic
Ink: Basic Black, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green
Other: Tropical Thinlits Dies, Subtle Textured Embossing Folder, Glitter Enamel Dots, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the gorgeous card the Design Team has created!  You will definitely be inspired!

Have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #260

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  I have had an exciting start to the week.  It was Harvest University at our church here in Canada.  I was able to work with the volunteers and make sure we had people helping out where we needed them.  Such a fun time! I love getting to know new people!  I also had the opportunity to help a set of parents out from Grand Olive, Michigan and watch their sweet little princess.  Snuggliest baby I have ever held!

We have a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Kim Singdahlsen.  Kim is one of the most creative people I know.  Her cards and projects are just fabulous.  Head over to her blog and check them out!
I haven't felt very creative lately.  I don't get to spend as much time in my craft room as I would like so when I'm there I often feel rushed and pressured to get a card done.  I'm hoping in the near future to spend some extra time in there!  I think I'll have to force myself to!!!  This card took forever to make.  I do love the jar set though.  It's really fun to play with!  Of course the flowers and fish are coated in Wink of Stella!  I couldn't help myself!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Basic Black
DSP: A Little Foxy DSP Stack
Stamps: Jar of Love, In A Big Way (Reverse Confetti)
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Mint Macaron, Smokey Slate, Versamark Silver, Stazon Black
Other: Everyday Jar Framelits, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Wink of Stella, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping in today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the amazing creations the Design Team has posted!  You will be amazed!!!!  I love working with this creative group!

Have a fabulous day!

Jen
