Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #641

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I'm finally back in business!  We had an action packed few weeks.  It started off with me being super sick.  I hate being sick and this one had me down for the count (and my husband was away).  Then we had our kitchen cupboards repainted so the entire kitchen had to be packed up for that to be done and then quickly unpacked because my parents arrived on Monday night!  Needless to say my creativity hasn't exactly been flowing lately!

We have a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess this week is the wonderful Jen Timko.  Jen is a fantastic card maker and I'm always blown away by her cards so head over to her blog to check them out!
I wasn't sure what to do with this sketch.  I had just made a 50th anniversary card for my parents using the white and gold flowers and thought they were so pretty I should make another card with them.  This photo didn't quite turn out as nice as I would have liked because of the lighting.  The gold is so pretty in person!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock, Gold Foil (SU)
Dies: Be Bold Blooms (Spellbinders),
Other: Dainty Diamonds Textured Embossing Folder (SU), Posh Happy Birthday (Memory Box), Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders)

We haven't been doing much hiking lately so I don't have any pictures.  There is still a ton of snow in the mountains and another dumping came on the weekend.  I can't get over how much snow there is.   Hopefully next weekend we'll be able to get out!  This coming Saturday we'll be celebrating my oldest as he graduates from high school!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the amazing cards the Design Team have posted.  If you need some inspiration you'll find it!

You have until Monday at 1PM EST to enter this week's challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #629

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Hope you're having a great week so far!  We are deep in snow here in western Canada.  We got a lot of snow over the last week and I'm so ready for it to be done.  Yesterday was cold and windy and I'm trying to tell myself that spring will come eventually!!!  We do need the moisture as we're starting spring in drought conditions but at this point I will take rain!!!

We've got a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite Texan, Amy O'Neill!  Amy makes such creative cards!  You definitely need to head over to her blog and check them out!  So we've got another sketch with a rounded object on it!!  The team is trying to kill me!

I wasn't sure what to do for that oval but then I realized that the Lovely Layers Peony looks very ovular!  I opted to go with that.  I have a friend undergoing a medical procedure today and I wanted to make sure to get a card in the mail for her since her recovery won't be as speedy as she'd like!

I am a little obsessed with using the Distress Oxides to colours my flowers!  I'm late to oxide game but one of these days I'm going to hit up the local paper store and grab some more!!!  I really do love them!  I didn't have a lot of purple paper hanging around so I had to make due with what I found!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill Coverstock White, Perfect Plum
DSP:Pansy Petals (SU Retired)
Ink: Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord (Distress Oxides)
Other: Lovely Layers Peony, Perfect Plum Ribbon, Mini Everyday Sentiments (Spellbinders), Silver Foil (Spellbinders), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels (SU), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll join in our challenge this week!  We always love to see what you create!  If you need some inspiration, head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the cards that are posted!

You have until Monday at 1 PM EST to get your card entered into the challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #624

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Here were are again at another Wednesday!  We've had a beautiful week and it looks like the next week or so will be nice as well!  That being said, we've had so little snow this year.  Everything is dry and I heard (this cannot be confirmed) that the wildfires are already smouldering north of Jasper (Alberta).  As much as I don't really like getting a dumping of snow, we need precipitation desperately.  Maybe it will be a wet spring but I won't hold my breath.

We've got a fabulous new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Our hostess is my fellow Rocky Mountain dweller (but in the Colorado area) Kim Singdahlsen!  Kim's cards are always so sweet so make sure to head over to her blog to check them out!

I hadn't played with my Be Bold Blooms in a while so I decided to use them for this card.  I really do love these blooms so you might seem them for a while now!  I debated between making this a Mother's Day card or an Anniversary card and Anniversary won!  The Mother's Day sentiment just didn't look right!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock, Daffodil Delight (SU), Gold Foil (SU)
DSP: Gingham 6X6 (SU retired)
Ink: Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber (Distress Oxides)
Other: Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Be Bold Blooms (Spellbinders), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders), Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Gilded Gems (SU).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge! If you need some inspiration you will definitely find it there!

You have until Monday at 3 PM EST to join in our challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #620

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  The weather has finally warmed up and the sun has finally come out!  I have never been so excited.  My youngest son and I went grocery shopping on Monday and the wind was so bitter.  It warmed up almost 20 degrees between Monday and Tuesday!  I'll take it!

We have a fantastic new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Jacquie Southas!  Jacquie's cards are always so beautiful and the one she has made for today might just be my favourite!!!  If you know me you know that I love gnomes so this card makes me super happy!  Head over to her blog and check it out!

So I needed a baby card and knew I had to use this sketch to make one!  I was running out of time and left it a little too long!  Let's say it didn't come together as easy or as well as I wanted it to.  This wasn't quite what I had in mind but this is what we're left with!  I had tried to get some new baby themed stuff at the store the other day but couldn't find much so we went with what we already had!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Coverstock
Patterned Paper: Gingham Happy Hearts (Honey Bee Stamps)
Other: Dainty Diamonds Textured Embossing Folder,  Baby's First Framelits Dies (SU - retired), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Nested Circles (Pink Fresh Studios), Circle Dies (Spellbinders), Bedtime Stories Sequin Mix (Honey Bee Stamps), Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week!  If you need some inspiration you'll find some on the blog.  We can't wait to see what you create this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #616

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far.  We received a surprise dumping of snow last week so it looks like we'll have a white Christmas.  Trevor and I got out for our first ski of the season on the weekend.  I am not a confident skier.  I don't possess that athletic prowess that most seem to have.  Skiing is very hard for me and so I really have to push myself to do it.  We had a great day and I mostly stayed upright which was the goal.  I'm sure the next time we go out I'll feel much more comfortable!

We've got a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite Texan and the incredibly talented Amy O'Neill!!!  Amy's cards are always gorgeous so make sure you head over to her blog and check them out!
This was such a great sketch and the timing was perfect because I knew I was going to need a couple more Christmas cards.  My husband asked me for a few extras so he could give them to his staff.  I also think I will need one for my hair dresser!  Maybe I should just make enough to get started on next year's!

Yup, black on black with the poinsettia's again.  Why re-invent the wheel when it's working?!  I added some Wink of Stella to the pine boughs to make them a little sparkly!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Shaded Spruce, Gold Foil (All SU)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green
Other: Christmas Bird and Poinsettia (Spellbinders), Lovely Layers Winter Greenery (Honey Bee Stamps), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders), Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Wink of Stella

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week!

You will definitely be inspired when you see the cards that are posted!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #615

Happy Wednesday!  We're a week closer to Christmas!  Are you ready?  Cards are mailed, gifts are mostly purchased, wrapping is almost done, baking has started, house is decorated.  I'm exhausted!  I actually still have some cards to make but they're for local people so they don't need to be mailed.  I need to make them simpler so that I can make them quickly!  Oh, December is always so busy.  I wanted to get my jobs done early so I could enjoy the month.  We shall see how it works out!  The more I think about it the more I keep adding stuff to my list so I might not be any further ahead!!!

We've got a brand new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the amazing Karren Johnson!  Karren makes the most beautiful cards so make sure you head over to her blog and show her some love!

Shockingly this card came together fairly quickly.  I knew right away what I wanted to do.  The only thing that took some time was ironing out the background colour!  I originally wasn't going to have a black background and a black panel but black on black won out!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green, Gold Foil
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green
Other: Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Christmas Bird and Poinsettia Dies (Spellbinders), A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders), Gold Foil (Spellbinders), Gold Sequins

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  We always love to see what you create!  If you need some inspiration the design team has some beautiful cards posted!

 Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #602

Happy Wednesday!  Wow, Wednesdays come fast when you've had a long weekend!  Our youngest started 10th grade yesterday which seems almost impossible to me!  The boys' high school has a staggered start so my oldest doesn't start until Thursday.  Oh how I wish time would slow down a bit.  I'm not ready for my oldest to start his last year of high school.  Didn't he just start Kindergarten last year?!

We've got a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess this week is the incredibly talented Kim Singdahlsen!  Kim's cards are spectacular.  She comes up with the most beautiful things!  Head on over to her blog and check them out!

I knew I wanted to do a Christmas card with this sketch.  I also knew I wanted to do a pink poinsettia!  I don't think I've ever created a pink poinsettia so it was about time!  I opted to keep the colour to just pink and white so the "greenery" is now "whitery"!  I added some silver accents and was done!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Hammermill White Cover Stock, Blushing Bride, Silver Foil
Ink: Blushing Bride
Other: Holiday Blooms (Spellbinders), Christmas Bird Poinsettia (Spellbinders), A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments (Spellbinders), Silver Foil (Spellbinders), Silver Sequins (SU), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders)

Our most recent hike wasn't a big one but one that was on our list.  It was long - almost 19 km but only 600 m elevation gain!  We did the Plain of 6 Glaciers Teahouse at Lake Louise!  It's an iconic hike and one we hadn't done.  You'll see the teahouse in the photos below.  We didn't actually stop and have anything at the teahouse. We just wanted to get on our way!  It was so neat to see all the glaciers and hear them cracking.  Our hiking season is coming to an end.  At this time of year we have no idea how many more weeks we'll have.  Snow and unfavourable weather can hit at any time and end things!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join our challenge this week!  There are some amazing Design Team cards there to provide you with some incredible inspiration!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #591

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a wonderful week so far!  We finally got some rain yesterday.  It rained most of the day which wasn't so great for my oldest who had to work outside in the cold and wet but so amazing for our dry ground that is desperate for water!  I think "rainy season" is coming to an end which is sad considering we hardly got any rain.   Life in an alpine desert I guess!

We've got a brand new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  I am fortunate to be this week's hostess!  I really do enjoy hosting the challenge!  It's so fun to get to see each and every card and read all of your posts!  I love seeing everyone's creativity!

I tried to get creative on my sketch!  I wanted to pick something that was outside my normal comfort zone!  I am generally drawn to easy, plain sketches so I tried to change it up a little!

I need another wedding card for my cousin's upcoming wedding.  I grabbed my Lovely Layers Peony and got cutting.  I went with white again since I really do love mostly white cards!  I figured a peony was a good wedding flower and it wasn't the Be Bold Blooms!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic White, Wild Wasabi (SU)
Ink: Garden Green (SU)
Other: Lovely Layers Peony (Honey Bee Stamps), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Sequins (Honey Bee Stamps), Mini Everyday Sentiments (Spellbinders), Black Foil (Spellbinders), Glimmer Hot Foil Machine (Spellbinders)

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  I would love to see what you create with my sketch!

Thought I'd share some photos of our recent hike!  The first one is of the mama and baby grizzly we startled when we came up on the ridge.  They were much closer when we first saw them and we cautiously backed up and made noise which scared them off - thankfully!  I didn't take a picture until they were a very good distance away!  This hike was absolutely spectacular!  Amazing views despite being a little on the smoky side.

Have an amazing day!

Jen!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #589

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  Canada is being hit with some pretty crazy wildfires right now.  Ontario and the Eastern part of the country seem to be hit pretty hard right now.  The whole country could use some rain.  Hopefully we'll soon get some!

We've got a fantastic new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess is the amazing Linda Callahan!  Linda's cards are always fantastic!  Head over to her blog and check out those beauties!

So this sketch might have stumped me.  A lot.  I have a couple of "reject" cards on my desk that I tried but was not happy with at all!  I finally decided to go for an "all white" card.  I hadn't done one in a while and it was about time.  I still love the look of an all white card!  I hope you're totally shocked that I didn't pull out the Be Bold Blooms!  I grabbed the Lovely Layers: Wildflowers from Honey Bee Stamps instead!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Silver Foil
Other: Lovely Layers: Wildflowers Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Sentiments for Everyday (Spellbinders), Silver Foil, Circle Dies (Spellbinders), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Basic Rhinestones (SU)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The more the merrier!

I thought I'd share a few photos from last weekend's hike.  There were no falls this time and no grizzly bears - which was a little disappointing!!!
We hiked Black Rock Mountain.  The drive to get there was insane.  It was physically the closest to our home but took the longest because we were driving on these sketchy dirt roads with giant pot holes and then we had to drive down an old river bed!  Super cool but super dusty and slow!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #587

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going well!  We finally got some rain last night.  Not a lot and of course it all came in about 10 minutes but we got some rain.  The air is clear and the smoke is FINALLY gone!  I know this isn't the end of wildfire season but I'm hoping Northern Alberta got some rain as well that helped tame those fires!

We have a fantastic new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today!  Our hostess this week is our amazing resident pilot Jen Timko!  Jen's cards are always gorgeous so you should head over to her blog to check them out!

Soooo, you might be rolling your eyes at the Be Bold Blooms again.  I can't help myself.  Someone asked me to make them a wedding card and what seems to be more perfect for a wedding than these sweet flowers?  White and silver seemed like a good combination to me as well!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Silver Foil
Other: Be Bold Blooms Dies (Spellbinders), Nested Circles (Pink Fresh), Modest Greetings 1 (Poppystamps), Silver Foil, Dainty Diamonds Textured Embossing Folder,  Circle Dies (Spellbinders)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The Design Team has created a bunch of amazing cards to inspire you!

Here are a couple of pics from our most recent hike.  We did a "quick" hike up the East End of Rundle.

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #584

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week has started well!  We didn't get out hiking last weekend.  The avalanche risk in the mountains is extremely high right now and it just isn't worth the risk.  We will have to wait a couple more weeks since we've had unseasonably warm weather lately.  The snow should melt fast now though!  We're already trying to figure out where our next hike will be!

Since it's Wednesday that means we've got a brand new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Linda Callahan.  Linda is hilarious!  She's got a fantastic sense of humour and she makes incredible cards so head over to her blog and check them out!

I had to really force myself not to use the Be Bold Blooms!  I wanted to use the Lovely Layers Spring Greenery from Honey Bee Stamps instead.  I have seen a bunch of cards lately that have used those dies and they are gorgeous so I wanted to join in the fun!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Highland Heather, Wild Wasabi, Basic White (all SU)
DSP: 6X6 Gingham paper pack (SU - retired)
Ink: Highland Heather, Garden Green (both SU)
Other: Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU), Lovely Layers Spring Greenery Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Hello Dear Friend (Spellbinders), Gold Foil, Bee embellishment (SU), Gold Sequins

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll check out the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge this week.  You will definitely find some inspiration over there!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #583

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going well! I think spring might finally have arrived in Alberta - though I don't really think I should say anything in case winter comes back  We finally have some spring feeling weather, the snow has melted (well, not in the mountains) and the grass is very slowly turning green.  We don't get much (any) rain so it takes a while for things to green out. It's such a nice change from winter!

We've got a great new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is our favourite Australian, Narelle Farrugia!  Narelle's cards are always so amazing and she does the most creative things with Stampin' Up stamps sets!  I'm always in awe of the gorgeous detail!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

I'll admit that this sketch through me for a loop.  It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do.  I don't have any rainbow stamps and I tried a few things that didn't look right but then I found this hot foiled circle sitting on my desk and decided to make it work. Of course I used the Be Bold Blooms again (sorry, not sorry?) and voila the card was done!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Gold Foil
DSP: Gingham 6X6 pack (SU)
Ink: Crushed Curry
Other: Be Bold Blooms Dies (Spellbinders), Nested Circles (Pink Fresh), Yana's Special Sentiments (Spellbinders), Gold Foil, Gilded Gems (SU), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder (SU)

Thought I'd share a few pics from last weekend's hike.  It was pretty spectacular.  It was called Porcupine Ridge.  It was a tough hike with some water crossings - I was feeling a little sluggish but I pushed through.  The view at the top was definitely worth it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head to the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog and join in our challenge!  At least head over there and check out the beautiful cards the Design Team has posted!

I hope you have an amazing week!

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a good week and a great start to spring!  Is it spring where you live?  We've had some slightly above freezing temperatures and lots of sunshine so we'll call that a win with spring.  Our front lawn still has a couple of feet of snow on it so there's that.  We're supposed to have a springy week so I'm hoping some of this snow will melt!!  I'm done with it!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #576

Hello!
Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a great week!  Today I'm spending the day with Jake at the ski hill!  It's a school trip - we shall see how this goes.  I will probably do my normal number of runs and then head to the chalet to read!  It's supposed to be a little chillier than I usually like to ski in so I'm hoping the heated products keep me nice and toasty warm!

We've got a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Our hostess this week is our super talented, resident Texan, Amy O'Neill!  Amy's cards are always beautiful and I'm always amazed so head over to her blog to check them out!

So this sketch has a LOT of circles on it and you should all know by now how I feel about circles!  They are definitely not my fav but I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw the sketch!  I had picked up the Spellbinders Be Bold dies and I suspected they would be perfect!

I had fun putting the flowers together in different colours!  I had to channel my inner Amy!  I can't wait to play with these dies more!  I can see a lot of fun colour combinations!
I used my Glimmer machine to create the sentiment!  The glimmer machine makes sentiment creation so much easier!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Basic White, Crushed Curry
Ink: Petal Pink, Calypso Coral
Other: Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Be Bold Blooms (Spellbinders), Mini Everyday Sentiments (Spellbinders), Rose Gold Foil, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  We always have the best cards in the gallery so we want to see yours as well!

Have an amazing day!
