Freshly Made Sketches #109

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe it's Wednesday already!  I have spent a lot of time this week at the school helping out.  I do enjoy seeing those smiling little faces and think the teachers at our school do an amazing job!   It's a pleasure to be able to help them out during the day.

Today brings us a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  The incredibly talented Jen Mitchell is our hostess this week!  Jen creates the most fabulous cards!  I loved her sketch this week and thought of a ton of different cards I could have created.

This past weekend was my birthday and my mom gave me the cutest gift cart/money holder with sunflowers on it and that got me thinking that I wanted to use sunflowers on my card this week so I could send this to her!  Mom...you need to act surprised when you get this in the mail okay?!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Crushed Curry
DSP: Sweater Weather
Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Daisies Die, 3/4" and 1/2" Circle Punches, Dimensionals, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder

Thanks for stopping by!
Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out the beautiful cards the Design Team has created!

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Anniversary!

Hello!
It's officially Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada!  I love Thanksgiving!  I cooked turnips, cranberries and pumpkin pie today!  Turkey day tomorrow!!!  I can't wait!  Fall is my favourite of the seasons!  I grew up in Eastern Ontario where the trees are so beautiful at this time of year!  It's also the time of year that my husband and I got married...10 years ago!  A week today (Friday) is our 10th anniversary!  I can't believe it.  10 years have flown by!  We have so much to be thankful for this weekend!

I needed to make a card for my husband to commemorate this special day but I find anniversary cards challenging to make!  I decided to start with the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary and combine it with the SU-Only Challenge this week (Feel that Texture) and ta-da!

I decided to use the woodgrain embossing folder since I thought it would work best for this particular card!  I also embossed the hearts in the same woodgrain embossing folder!  I used the Early Espresso and the Cherry Cobbler Core-dinations cardstock so that I could sand it!!!

Our wedding colours were cranberry and gold and I figured this card kinda matched that!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Early Espresso Core'dinations, Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations, Very Vanilla, Champagne Glimmer
DSP: Orchard Harvest, Early Espresso
Stamps: Perfectly Penned, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Heart Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, Bitty Banners Framelit, Sanding Block, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #55

Hello!
Hope everyone is having a good week!  Sorry for the lack of posts this week so far...it's been crazy here.   I've been at the school more than I have been home!  It's taking me a while to get into the groove!

This post will be quick tonight...I just got in from a training session and I'm looking forward to crawling into bed!

Wednesday means a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week's sketch is brought to us by extremely talented Jen Mitchell!  If you check out her sketch you'll see it has a CIRCLE on it!  She LOVES circles...I do not....sadly!!!!  I know she'll be giggling now reading this!

The design team has come up with some gorgeous cards!  What a talented bunch - a true honour to be working with them!  I wanted a clean and simple birthday card to have on hand...I also wanted to haul out my Papillon Potpourri stamp set again!  I've also used the Perfectly Penned Stamp set which you can now buy SEPARATELY!  Check out this link for details!

Mojo Get Well

Hello!  I hope everyone had a great day!  I was busy getting ready for a special someone's birthday party.  Today I was making candy/chocolate Lego Mini Figures and sticking door hangers together!

I tackled the Mojo Monday sketch yesterday.  My husband's dear Grandma recently fell and broke her hip.  She had surgery and is now recovering.  I wanted to send her a little card to wish her well and let her know we're thinking of and praying for her!  I wish we lived a little closer to her so we could deliver this ourselves!
I must say I love the Very Vanilla/Soft Suede colour combination.  I cut out the little bird just to add a bit more dimension.

The rosette is a retired one from a previous mini catalogue but I love them and wish I had more!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
Stamps: Nature Walk, Perfectly Penned
Ink: Soft Suede
Other: Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Very Vanilla Rosette

Thanks for stopping by!  Hopefully I'll have tacked the Freshly Made Sketches sketch for you tomorrow!!!

CAS Challenge Thank You Card

Happy Tuesday!
Today is my crazy day!  I am thankful it's almost over but I still have bootcamp to go tonight!  I don't think I'll get this post quite done before it's time to leave!

I wanted to make a quick card this afternoon while Jacob was napping (and before we had to go to the school) and decided to take a look at Splitcoaststampers CAS (Clean and Simple) Challenge.  The challenge this week involved die-cuts.  That seemed pretty straight forward to me.  I really enjoy CAS cards... they're more my style!

I was reading a great post by Nathalie Hardy as she was discussing Project Life...in a nutshell she was saying that we can get very overwhelmed looking at what other's are doing...they may create more elaborate cards, or such amazing scrapbook pages and we can get discouraged thinking our's aren't good enough.  I really needed to read that post.  It made me realize that the clean and simple cards (and scrapbook pages) that I enjoy are good enough for me.  They may not be your style and that's okay!  So when you see a card or scrapbook page and think "wow, I wish I could make something like that"...DON'T!  Find your style and be proud of it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink: Red Riding Hood
Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Other: Pleated Satin Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die
