Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #533

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  Has spring sprung where you live?  We're feeling more springy weather here this week after last week's snow!  My husband also came down with Covid last week which put a damper on our plans.  I'm so far the only one who hasn't had it.  Of course we seem to like to wait a month between cases so maybe next month will be my turn?  I sure hope not!  My husband had a super mild case and has recovered quickly!

We have a brand new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  I have the privilege of being this week's hostess!  It's always so much fun to go through the gallery and check out the gorgeous cards that you create for the challenge!  I sure hope you like the sketch this week!

Of course, as is often the case, my card did not turn out as I had envisioned.  I made the card and then thought it looked too dull.  I added some thread but that didn't quite do it so I addd the sequins and now I'm not too sure!  Oh we're often not happy with what we create!  I wanted a simple but sweet Mother's Day card.  I had to use the tulips because they'll soon be blooming somewhere in the world - just not here!!!  Too cold here yet for tulips!  I'm not even sure there are tulips here!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Flirty Flamingo, Strawberry Slush, Granny Apple Green
DSP: Sunshine and Rainbows
Stamps: Flowering Tulips
Ink: Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, Strawberry Slush, Granny Apple Green
Other: Lovely Layers Tulips, Silver Sequins, Silver Thread, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see what the other members of the team have come up with!  I also hope you'll join in our challenge this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #532

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We are just coming out of a crazy snow storm - I think it was going around a lot of places this week!  I am not a big fan of snow in April and I'm hoping that it doesn't last.  It's supposed to warm up so I'm hoping this is the end of it!  I don't know if I can take any more snow and winter!!!

We've got a great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today courtesy of the super creative Kim Singdahlsen!  Kim's cards are always so fun and she has the best collection of dies!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

I had this sunflower sitting on my desk and needed to add it to a card and it fit onto this card perfectly!  I went with a white background because the other colours I tried just didn't look right.  I also thought the colours just stood out so nicely against the white!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Early Espresso, Copper Foil
Stamps: Special Moments
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Lovely Layers Sunflowers Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Sweetly Stitched Dies, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Flag Dies, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The design team has put together some amazing cards for your inspiration!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #531

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a fantastic week!  We had a gorgeous week last week and today we woke up to snow!  It was so cold here this morning.  I can't believe the shift in the weather.  We've heard that April is crazy windy here and so far it's living up to what we've heard.  I've never experienced wind quite like this before!  Apparently is has something to do with the snow in the mountains but I didn't quite understand the explanation!  Anyhow, it's supposed to warm up next week and for that I will be thankful!

We have a fabulous new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches courtesy of the hilarious and super creative Linda Callahan!  Linda and her cards always make me smile so head over to her blog to check them out!

Linda and I also had the same idea with our cards this week!  We both chose flowers!  I hadn't checked the blog before I posted my card and giggled when I saw Linda's card and how similar mine is to hers!  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this card but then decided that I would pull out my Whimsical Spring Flowers Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps and go from there!

I started with the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP and then chose my colours after I chose the patterned paper I wanted to use!  I still feel like something is missing off this card but I can't put my finger on it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Misty Moonlight, So Saffron, Granny Apple Green
DSP: Sunshine & Rainbows 6X6 DSP Pack
Stamps: Itty Bitty Birthdays
Ink: Midnight Muse
Other: Elegant Sequin Mix (Honey Bee Stamps), Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Whimsical Spring Flowers Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Tasteful Labels Dies, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  The Design Team has some amazing examples up for you to inspire your creativity this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #530

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We have had an interesting week.  Caleb (our oldest) dislocated his shoulder last Tuesday night and required a late night trip to the Emergency Room.  Since we haven't really been in Calgary that long and don't usually require hospitals I didn't even know where to go!  Needless to say we had a good experience and Caleb starts physio on Friday!  Unfortunately for him, it looks like ski season is over and the start of golf season will be delayed!

That aside, we have a fabulous new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the Queen of Clean cards herself Jen Mitchell!  Jen's cards are fabulous so you'll want to head over to her blog to check them out!

So of course I had in my head what I wanted to do for this card and then changed my mind and tried something else which didn't work so I went back to my original plan.  Sort of.  I went a little old school with this card and the distressing.  Now that I look at it I'm not sure I even like it!  Oh dear.  I wanted to make a Mother's Day card but I didn't have a sentiment small enough to fit in the box and a bigger box just didn't look right.  I tell you, sometimes we card makers face challenging dilemmas!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Stamps: Itty Bitty Birthdays
Ink: Sahara Sand, Wild Wasabi
Other: Lovely Layers Hydrangea (Honey Bee Stamps), Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I hope you'll take some time to head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the gorgeous cards the Design Team have created!

We sure hope you'll join in our challenge this week!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #529

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Are you having a good start to your week?  I guess we're halfway to the weekend!  My boys have next Monday off so we will be heading to Lake Louise to do some skiing!  Ski season here lasts a LONG time!  I've heard some places are open until May!  My oldest says he wants to ski on his 16th birthday!!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is one of our fearless leaders, Jen Timko!  Jen is one of the most amazing card makers!  Head over to her blog to see what I mean!

I originally thought I would use my Lovely Layers Hydrangea Honey Cuts for this card but I opted for the Coneflower instead!  I also might have turned my coneflowers into daisies!  Sorry.  I want to go with a white look!  I also realize that I forgot to brush some ink on their centres!  Oh dear.  Since it's starting to feel a bit more like spring here I love working with the Lovely Layers Dies and creating all things floral!!  Okay so I've been doing it for months but the warmer weather is inspiring me even more!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Gold Foil
Stamps: Special Moments
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Lovely Layers Coneflower Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Thank you for stopping by this week!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in our challenge!  There are some amazing cards posted that will definitely inspire you!

Have a wonderful day!

Freshly Made Sketches #528

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great week so far!  We're having a quieter week.  Two sick kids at home means we aren't going too far (they're not going anywhere!) but sometimes that's okay.  I needed this little break!  The sun has been shining and we've had some glorious weather!  I also love that the sun sets much later now!  It's so nice to have longer and warmer days!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is our favourite Californian design team member Jacquie Southas!  Jacquie is an amazing card maker and her cards always make me smile!  Head over to her blog to check them out!

I wasn't too sure what I wanted to do for this card and tried a few different things before I settled on using the Lovely Layers Greenery Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps!  I decided to cut one in Garden Green then another one to slide behind it out of Champagne Foil Cardstock.  The background needed a little texture so I used a woodgrain embossing folder.  Of course what card is complete without some sequins?  I feel like I might have used a few too many.  Sorry, not sorry?!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Garden Green, Champagne Foil
Stamps: Well, Hello (MFT)
Ink: Garden Green
Other: Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Lovely Layers Greenery Honey Cuts (Honey Bee Stamps), Sequins

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join in on our challenge!

Have an amazing day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #527

Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're having a great start to your week!  We've got some beautiful springy weather here!  I won't hold my breath though.  I figure winter has a few more dirty tricks up its sleeve still!  I will enjoy the sun and the warmth while I can though!  It's nice to see the snow melt!!!

We've got a great new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Our hostess this week is the fabulous Judy Rozema!  Judy's cards are always so lovely so you need to head to her blog to check them out!

Judy's sketch threw me a little this week.  I had in my head what I was going to do and then when I tried it, it definitely didn't work.  I had to start from square one.  Or is it rectangle one?!   I really wanted to use my new tulip dies and I wanted to try out my tulips in a Calypso Coral colour!  I'm not sure if there are tulips that are this colour but I'm sure there are!

I had to flip the sketch horizontally to make it work but I think that you can sort of see the sketch in there! I used my blending brushes to colour some ink on my tulip petals to give them some different depth of colour!  I definitely don't think the picture does the tulips justice!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic White, Calypso Coral, Crisp Canteloupe, Petal Pink, Garden Green,
DSP: Gingham Gala (Retired)
Stamps: Bitty Buzzwords (Honey Bee Stamps)
Ink: Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Canteloupe, Petal Pink, Garden Green
Other: Bitty Buzzwords Honey Cuts, Lovely Layers Tulips, Vellum, Dimensionals, Blending Brushes

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you'll head over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and join us in our challenge this week!  The Design Team has come up with some inspiring cards to spur you on!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
