Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #129

 Hello!
Happy Wednesday!  Can you believe we are halfway through the week!?  How did that happen?!  I must say I am looking forward to the end of the week!  It's been a busy one for sure!  Jacob is going to a birthday party tonight and won't be home for dinner so I asked Caleb what he would want for dinner since Jacob isn't going to be around.  Jacob piped up immediately and said "have perogies...I had perogies!"  So...perogies it is!  Caleb will be super excited for dinner tonight!

We had a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  This week's sketch is brought to us by the super talented Jen Mitchell!  Hop on over to her blog if you want to see just how talented she is!!

I shamefully used the Fresh Prints DSP Pack again!  I love this pack and I love that there are enough sheets that I can make lots of cards!  I know you just saw this paper in yesterday's post....you're probably getting sick of it...unfortunately I'm not!!!!

I have said before I can't colour worth beans so the poppies were stamped on white and stamped on red and then fussy cut out of the red and glued on.  I really should give colouring a try again...someday...!!!!

I used the Needlepoint Border Embossing folder along the edge of the DSP - it's hard to see in the picture but I wanted to add a bit of texture to the white cardstock without embossing the whole background.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red
DSP: Fresh Prints DSP Stack
Stamps: Create a Cupcake, Pleasant Poppies
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder, Circle Punch, Scalloped Circle Punch, Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you are able to pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out what the design team has come up with!  You won't be disappointed!

Have a fabulous day!

Retro Flower

Hello!
Happy Tuesday!  Hope you're having a great start to your week!  I was supposed to get this card posted last night but the night got too late!  I was meeting with a friend planning our Card Making Elective at our church's summer camp!  Craziness!  I had a hard time thinking about summer when it was so cold out!  Today we had this crazy snow storm!  Thankfully no accumulation but this weather is insane!  I am looking forward to spring!

I made this card on the weekend in the few minutes I had in my craft room!  I loved the sketch at retro sketches this week!  I'm usually not a big fan of square cards but this one worked for me!

I must say I used the Fresh Prints DSP stack again.  I can't help it!  I love it!  Who doesn't love red?  It's Jacob's favourite colour!!!  I would love to paint my family room red!  Sorry...sidetracked!

The flower is punched out with the Blossom Punch and the DSP is attached using dimensionals but it's really hard to tell in this photo!  I was having some serious lighting issues!

I discovered that I have some large rhinestones in my stash that I must have forgotten about and got them out for this card!  I think they were just what my flower needed!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper white, Basic Black
DSP: Fresh Prints DSP Stack
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments (PTI)
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Blossom Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Large Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back shortly with this week's Freshly Made Sketches post!

Have a fabulous day!

Starburst Birthday!

Hello!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We had a fairly quiet weekend!  Nothing too exciting which is always okay!  We had a cold day here today.  I think winter is trying to hold on as long as possible.  The long range forecast is looking promising so hopefully by next weekend we'll be feeling a little warmer!  I did see my first robin on Saturday!  Poor little thing was trying to find something to eat!

I had a few minutes in the craft room this afternoon while the boys coloured!  They were so happy to colour away!  I loved it!

I used this week's sketch over at the Paper Players and combined that with the colour combination at Colour Q!  I just loved the Colour Q palette this week!  Some of my favourites!

I have been dying to use the Starburst stamp set (and framelits) since they arrived before the March break and as soon as I saw the sketch at Paper Players I knew I could haul them out!  I didn't have any Going Gray on hand so I opted for some Basic Gray and some silver cardstock!  I used the Decorative Dots embossing folder to create the dots on the silver starburst!  I used clear embossing powder on each of the other stamped starbursts so the colours would be more vibrant!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Silver
Stamps: Starburst Sayings
Ink: Versamark, Island Indigo
Other: Decorative Dots Textured Embossing Folder, Arrows Textured Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Starburst Framelits, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a fabulous day!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #128

Hello (again!)
Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe how quickly Wednesday came around!  I must say I am a big fan of Wednesdays!  It's bathroom cleaning and bootcamp day!  Some of you might think I'm crazy but I do love clean bathrooms and who doesn't love a night at bootcamp with some great girls?!

Today brings us a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week's hostess is Rita Wright!  She has been totally rocking this online course most of our Design Team has been taking together!  Check out her blog to see the fabulous cards she's been churning out the last few days!

I was a little stumped with the sketch at first!  I had something else in mind for this card when I started out but changed my mind since I really wanted to use the Hardwood background stamp!  I decided to spare you using Basic Grey and yellow again and chose Raspberry Ripple instead!!!  I also realized I hadn't used the Hexagon die yet and wanted to give that a whirl!

I saved some of the punched out hexagons and attached them with dimensionals to give the card a bit of lift!  I threw on some rhinestones as well because I simply can't imagine a card without bling!!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White
Stamps: Hardwood, Perfect Pennants
Ink: Basic Grey
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Hexagon Die, Banners Framelits, Raspberry Ripple Ribbon, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog!  The design team has created some fantastic cards!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Have a fabulous day!

CAS(E) This Sketch Chevrons!

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!
I hope you're having a great week!  It was a beautiful sunny day here in Burlington today.  The snow is melting and for that I am truly thankful!  I totally am looking forward to spring!  I can't wait for the rest of the snow to melt!  We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow so hopefully that will take care of a good chunk of the rest of it!!

I really liked this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge!  At first I didn't know what I would do with the sketch but then I realized that I could use chevrons....again!  I'm so sorry about all of the chevrons but at least it appears I'm over my neutrals kick (until you see one of the cards I made for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge!).

So, as you may realize, the chevron embossing folder from Stampin' Up actually has the chevrons going the other way (it is designed to have the chevrons emboss side to side landscape no portrait).  It was actually quite easy to just turn the folder the other way and run it through the Big Shot twice to get the entire piece of cardstock embossed!  It left a little line on the cardstock but I covered most of it with the banners and from the picture you can't really see it anymore!  If this is completely confusing to you, I apologize!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Costal Cabana, Basic Black
DSP: Fresh Prints DSP Paper Stack (I LOVE THIS PAPER!!!!)
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments (PTI)
Ink: Black
Other: Chevrons Embossing Folder, Banners Framelits Dies, Word Bubbles Framelits, Dimensionals

Hope you have a great day!  There's another post coming right up!

Retro Sketches and Some Chevrons!

Hello!
Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great start to your week!  We are getting back into the swing of things here after our March Break!   We had a great week with my parents and it's sad to know that our next visit won't be for a while but I do love being back into routine!  Though my 5:45 wake up this morning was a little more challenging than normal!

I had a few minutes on Sunday to play with this week's retro sketches challenge!  I love the sketch this week!  It is so versatile!  I know right away I had to pull out my chevron paper!  I do love the Fresh Prints DSP Stack!

I wanted to create a card with a very clean, white background!  I love white!  I embossed the sentiment on vellum in silver embossing powder (though it's really hard to see in the picture).  I added a small basic rhinestone just to add a little bitter of bling!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana
DSP: Fresh Prints DSP Paper Stack, Vellum
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments (PTI)
Ink: Black
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous week!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #127

Hello!
I trust you're having a great week!  The kids and I are on our March break and spending a fabulous week with my mom and dad (Papa and Grannie) in Pembroke!  The boys are in heaven and have been having so much fun!  They sure do love being here!  I think I've put on 5 lbs (at least) since I arrived!  Why oh why does everything taste so much better here?!

Today brings us a fabulous new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week's sketch is courtesy of the amazing Jennifer Timko!  I really do love Jen's sketch and how versatile it is!  I decided I needed to turn it on it's side though!  Not sure why but I think I may have just put it together wrong!!!!

I believe that my red banner is on crooked...sigh....happens more often than it should!  I threw the sequins on because they had just arrived in my order before we left to come to my mom's house and I couldn't resist throwing them in the luggage and bringing them along!  They are quite fun!

I originally had the banner plain (not embossed) but it looked a little too boring so I embossed it using the chevron embossing folder!  I added a Bitty Button and some punched some Fresh Prints DSP Stack to put behind it!  I am loving that Fresh Prints DSP Stack!!!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Costal Cabana, Real Red, Whisper White
DSP: Fresh Prints DSP Stack
Stamps: Just Sayin'
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Bitty Button, Bitty Button Punch, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Sequins, Dimensionals, Chevron Embossing Folder, Word Bubbles Framelits, Banners Framelits

A few pictures of our fun at Grannie and Papa's!  My parents neighbours have let us use their rink while they're away!  The boys have LOVED it!  The bottom picture is from the Canadian Air Force Museum!  The boys were so excited to sit in those chairs!  They both want to be Air Force Pilots one day!

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a fabulous week!

Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and check out the beautiful cards the design team has created for you!

Have a great day!!!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #126

Hello!
Hope you're having a great week!  We have a short week as Friday is a PA Day at school and we head off on our March Break Adventures!  The boys decided that we would be heading to visit my parents for the March Break!  No white, sandy beaches for us!!!  We will be hanging in in white, cold snowbanks!!!

We have a great new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week courtesy of the incredibly creative Amy O'Neill.  This one threw me a curve ball...let's just say the above card is card #3...the other two were disasters and I'm not in love with this one either!  I am thinking I need to find my mojo!

I do love the new Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  It's super fun and adds a bit of randomness....something I am not good with!  I used a flower stamp from the Secret Garden stamp set to create my layered flower!  The middle and top layer of the flower are fussy cut but I actually find fussy cutting therapeutic!

The picture is a little dark but I used Midnight Muse (my absolute favourite blue) not black!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Secret Garden, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Midnight Muse, Versamark
Other: Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelites, Secret Garden Framelits, Basic Pearls, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  Please head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches Blog and get started on your card for the week!  The design team has come up with some amazing cards to get your creative juices flowing!

Have a great week!
